"For all the fans who have ever complained about favorable coverage following the SEC's lucrative partnership with ESPN, South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier is right there with you — with one minor clarification: What's with the obsession over Alabama? Specifically, Spurrier said Tuesday he's complained to SEC commissioner Mike Slive about the "All-Access" program ESPN shot during the Crimson Tide's preseason practices last summer, and the omnipresent "Roll Tide" commercial that was all over the network throughout last season. "I said [to Slive], 'How much did Alabama pay those guys to do that?'" Spurrier said. "He said, 'Oh, they didn't have to pay them anything.' I said, 'Well, what happened to Go Gators or Rocky Top or Go Gamecocks?' I didn't think that was all that fair." Dr. Saturday Blog

As much as I hate to admit it, I think Spurrior has a point about the number of times ESPN showed coverage of Alabama football in commercials and documentaries. What do you guys think? Roll Tide!:a:

How is it not fair? We didnt pay them to do it. ESPN didnt do it out of the goodness of their heart. Alabama, especially going into last season, was the talk of college football. Why wouldnt ESPN cash in on that and if I remember correctly that All Access show did some damn good ratings for them. Why wasnt he complaining about Urban Meyer's "Rings" commercial on ESPN? or the vest's commercial? Oklahoma's doing a All Access this week. is it because ESPN is showing "favoritism"? NO Oklahoma is the top ranked team going into the nation, thats why. Maybe if people gave a damn about watchin South Carolina and win some Championships maybe they could get a little more coverage.

Kill that "fair" crap.

Didnt they do the all access with MSU this year  and Florida had some exposure in something that I saw the other day......pretty sure it was ESPN...showing Muschamp and players going through drills....not the all-access but something similar. I dont think Spurrier has an arguement with th all-access issue......but he might with the commercials. The one with the two old guys in the nursing home  and the Roll Tide commercial.....I can kind-of see his beef.....but I think he would be better served to concentrate on his team and not television commercials. A little more winning and maybe a championship.....and SC might get a few commercials

I'll say this, if Spurrier could have built that team quicker then he would have been in similar shoes. He finally has SC moving in the right direction and has been at SC for 2 years longer than Saban as been with Bama - so what has taken him so long one should ask him... His record...well, kinda sucks. I would remind him of a few things, Heisman and BCS trophy of recent.

honestly, go back a few years and see what they said about Bama...ESPN dogged the hell outta us for years.

ESPN is just a bunch of bandwagon riding, pot stirring bunch of hooligans if you ask me.

How many SEC games have we lost the last three years?

VS? LSU is one season removed from a .500 SEC season. Florida is about the only exception to the publicity we've received.

I think SOS is just a little upset no one is giving him the attention he received when he was down at Florida. He might want to consider he isn't the big dog on the block anymore. Heck, 1999 pretty well sealed that deal and it was DuBose!

Ummm, they have had those commercials. Someone needs to remind Spurrier of the Go Gators commercials that ran or the Go Vols that were previously on when those schools were on top. How about the 24/7 coverage of Tebow? Didn't they follow him through recruiting all the way to his draft selection. As for the Gamecocks they have been on top so they haven't been highlighted. Besides I'm sure there is a network censor out there blocking any "Go Cocks" ad from airing.

Who can forget these?

The man needs to do a Google search before slamming for one thing. What's he going to complain about next? Who is on the cover of each issue of SI? Give me a break and get over it.

Does anybody really want all access to this?

I can go to my local trailer park and find the likes. The man needs a bra for crying out loud.

Whether you're a fan of Alabama or not everybody knows that Alabama is one of the most popular schools in the country and CNS is one of the best coaches in the country. I think Steve is just mad that he knows he is no longer among the elite coaches in the country and people could care a less about SC. Steve's ego doesn't like that he isn't the top dog anymore and that people could really care a less about him unlike when he was at UF.

Networks are after ratings and Alabama brings any network ratings and as does CNS. Steve, win some games and win championships and people will care about you and SC. But, you're going to have to pray that CNS retires and Alabama stops recruiting.
