🏈 So who's going to TAMU game?

I was going to go, but I'm not spending $500 a ticket (upper endzone) on that game. If they get down to $300 I'll go, but just can't see spending $500 on that game.

The price isn't going to drop.

At this minute I can't recall the details of the story, can you?

At some point there was a concession to A&M on away tickets to this game. I believe the final number allotted was 6000 for Bama—less than half of what they received last year.

Do you remember why that concession was made?

I don't remember, students get 31,000 tickets @ game. I still think this will get reduced eventually, we'll see.

Where did you get that number?

It's been awhile since I looked at Bama (not since last expansion) and when I did the student allotment was 15K for Bama students. Traditionally, SEC schools allow 8500 for visitor seating.

Now that it's been a few minutes...

Part of the issue with A&M is how the SEC rules are written and what they had sold for season tickets. Now that I've had time to think about it I recall there being an issue with the way the Big12's rules read for seating allotments vs the SEC's rules. Because the SEC requires schools to allot 1500K for lower bowl seating and A&M had those sold to season ticket holders there was some agreement made.

Numbers came from a TAMU article on ticket sales, believe it said season ticket holders got around 32,000. Kyle Field holds ~83k (but should be over 100k in 2 years), so by the time you take students, season tickets, and SEC allotment, you have about 13k remaining. I think the lower bowl visitor seats are on the student side in the far corner near the endzone with the crappy bleachers, at least thats where I heard the LSU fans were at last year. I'm seem to remember when I went to Utah State vs TAMU a few years ago that is where the very small Utah State fans sat.

Will be interesting to see if the visiting teams ticket allotment increases when they add more seats.

Technically, it has to because of the SEC rules.

I'm fairly sure I'm right on this but understand it's been awhile since I've been off on a research trip to find out how the tickets are divided/allocated.

More than anything, I recall the SEC having one established rule—1500 seats in the lower area/bowls. What I'm pretty damn sure about is there isn't an official rule as to how many tickets you have to give another school. But, as one of those "gentleman agreements," the schools allocate 8500 for visitors. It's each schools decision.

There's one other number that keeps popping into my head. When it comes to the Big12 I believe they have a minimum allotment and that number was less than 4000. The reason that keeps popping in my mind is I recall what struck me as "spin" from A&M when Florida visited last season. I recall a line like "this is actually a 50% increase over what we allotted last year to conference opponents" or something like that.

Ok, I was wrong on the season ticket holder allotment, its 45k vs 32k (only off by about 30%...)

A&M dedicates 45,000 seats to nonstudent season-ticket holders — 31,000 seats are kept for students. Alabama has already confirmed it will take its full visiting allotment of 6,000, Dollins said.

Sounds like they want all of the advantage. Home, yours, mine and your sisters. Talk about a fair fight. Well, at least the families of the players can go, but no one else can. Ha, Ha.

A quick one page glance at a google search for A&M full time enrollment threw out a 48K number for faculty and student population. I suspect that might include graduate school as well. 31K for students? Maybe 31K for student, faculty, and some staff designations?

""non-student" season ticket holders." Is that versus student season ticket holders?

I wonder if they allow student visitor tickets?

Got the call last Thursday from a vendor who has 4 on the 30. Wife and I are flying out Friday. Vendor wants to take us to something called "yell practice" Friday night. Not sure what that is but looking forward to it. Should be a great weekend.

They have some cool traditions, enjoy it.

Stay off the grass too btw.

Let's be honest with Toz here Matt.

In the end, it's still a pep rally. There's only a few differences: it's not high school and then there's the cheerleaders (or lack thereof depending on perspective.)

I haven't been to a yell practice to see those "cheerleaders" in their fancy overalls. If they still did the bonfire, I'd watch that too.

I did watch the core march from their area down the street into the stadium. Also, don't take off at half time, watch the band too at half time.

Those fans get into all their traditions throughout the game (you'll see what I mean), I swear they are a cult.

I'm familiar. I do want to visit the two new stadiums.

No matter what, it's still going to be fodder...
