🏈 So if you were in Arkansas's shoes...

Just read on Hogville that Nick Saban is the only coach in America that is on....Bobby Petrino's level. I laffed.

Someone's short list:
Nick Saban
Pete Carroll
Jim Tressel

I laffed harder.

Also...
"He (Chris Peterson) has also proven that he is perfectly content at Boise, so we can stop talking about (hiring) him.

"Just as Saban was content at Alabama....."

I remember the day the Cowboys hired CNS away from Tusca....wait, what?

Don't be surprised if they don't go after McGhee at UAB. He had been the OC at Arky under Petrino. He would be reunited with alot of the same kids he recruited.
Well, if they don't go after him as you said then he probably won't be reunited with any of those kids.

Not sold on Charlie Strong yet...he's 7-6 as an HC in his best season.

I'm with psychojoe here...hire interim, look seriously starting in the fall.

If I were UArk AD Jeff Long.

Current assistant as interim for the 2012 season.

Once 2012 season is over, I drive the Brinks truck to Gary Patterson's house and offer whatever it takes for him to accept the job.

Better be a four-wheel drive: a lot of mud in his yard now.

True, but I believe he would be the best coach they could possibly hire.

Another thing I'd be concerned with if I was a Hawg fan. What's gonna happen if/when they let Taver or one of the 2 Pauls be the interim coach this year, and they finish losing only to Alabama and LSU?

They would be locked in to hiring the interim. See WV after Rich Rod left.

While I agree that hiring a new HC after allowing an interim guide you can be a difficult situation, I would still play the odds. The guy that replaced Rich Rod at WVa won the bowl game basically on Rich Rod's game plan and game prep. If memory serves correct I think Michigan St handed Spurrier and UF a bowl loss while Saban was in Louisiana getting acquainted with his new digs. (similar situation)

I think I would play the odds wait and see who is willing to move after the season. Pat Dye always said hindsight was 50/50 and looking back on Bama, it would have been much smarter to have allowed Kines to be the interim and hire after the season was over. I think Steve Spurrier came out of the NFL and was ready to go back to college coaching at that point..........granted I wouldn't take 3 Steve Spurriers and a sexual favor from Jennifer Anniston for the coach we have now, but at the time, not hiring a HC after spring practice would have been the right thing to do IMO. Slim pickings this time of year and you could bet setting yourself up for multiple years of mediocrity as opposed to just one.

Even with the much hyped 21-5 record Petrino has had over the last two years, let's not forget he's only two games over .500 in conference play for his tenure. The four SEC losses he's had over the last two years have been because his offense failed in the end.

My point is this. Does a berth in a BCS game propel a team out of mediocrity? A berth that results in a loss against a team that hasn't beaten another SEC team in their last 10 attempts?

I'm not "banging" Arkansas here. But, I am calling into question if they did escape the middle of the pack?

I can see an argument clearly for no, they were still fighting to escape mediocrity.

He sure thought that BCS game would help - notice the hat he used a his injured presser...was this by chance, I doubt it.

If they can't beat Bama or LSU, they are middle of the pack in the West.
