Alabama safety Shawn Burgess-Becker (Pompano Beach, Fla./Monarch) is transferring out of Alabama, as first-reported by 247Sports.com.

Burgess-Becker played as a true freshman last fall recording three tackles on special teams.

He would have to sit out this season due to NCAA transfer rules.

Burgess-Becker (6-1, 205) would then have three years of eligibility at his next program.

Burgess-Becker has received his full release.

The four-star recruit was ranked as the nation's No. 10 athlete and the N0. 24 prospect in Florida in the 2015 class by 247Sports.com Composite Rankings.

Dang I thought he was on a nice path... Avoided the RS his first year and got some good feedback from Saban.

He's best friends with Ridley. Must not see a path to playing time... Oh well. RTR

Could be several things. Might be struggling in school. Might just be impatience. Might just be homesick. I too thought he had a future. This could hurt depending on the punishment for Hootie Jones.

I think with the new common core, you have to subtract cheerleaders, then add the number of hot dogs consumed on an average game day before dividing by the number of coaches. I'm thinking the answer is 85.

With your fuzzy math....I think the last statement says it all.

We have seen this every year since Saban has been here. Sometimes it was a medical RS, sometimes is the fact that they are not progressing and there is more/better talent around you and it would behoove you to transfer if you are seeking playing time. Folks really give Saban a hard time about this (trimming of the fat), but I bet the players appreciate that kind of honesty.

That was my first thought, too. A lot of us have been saying we expect to see CamRob play against USC. Guess the same would hold true for Hootie.

My understanding is Hootie only caught the weed charge... so he's got a better shot than Cam.

However, Hootie has struggled to beat some guys out. Not sure he's up to Saban's standards on the mental side yet...

He's as physically gifted as the big time safeties that have come through... I always thought at his size, he might be a killer pass coverage LB. In high school he was basically our version of the Star and covered slot WR's... Moves really well for his size. I'm pulling for him, but if he can't get on the field at the end of this year I could see him finishing elsewhere.

My memory isn't what it used to be—and I'll work on its digression some more later on today—but I don't recall reading or hearing this. Where did you pull that from?

Seeing a path, and the willingness to actually walk that path, two different things.

I'm left with the impression both sides felt it was the best move.

Hootie has the drug charge but also possession of a gun with drugs. The big issue with Cam is that his possession of a stolen gun is a felony.
