🏈 Scholarship Players and Eligibility Chart

So with 25 future enrollees we are sitting at 102 by my math. 17 to be pared away to get down to 85. I wondered how he would do it last year. This time around I am confident he has a plan, and looking forward to seeing it play out

Yes, that's it in a nutshell.

It would be easy to start speculating on which players aren't here, but I just don't feel comfortable getting into those things.

Considering the number of players we have visit this site, that follow the events we have on facebook, etc.,...it's one of those lines I won't cross.

If that makes sense...

I agree wholeheartedly. I hope that we won't have repeats of the Jeremy Elder or Jimmy Johns episodes a spart of it though. The bad apples should be gone.

I didn't realize Corey Smith was on scholarship.

I see about 10-12 players on scholarship that haven't, to my knowledge, seen much playing time, and haven't contributed as much as some would think they would have by now. Getting the numbers down to 85 is gonna be tight, but I'm sure Coach Saban has it all figured out.

According to that chart, after this season we will have ZERO punters and kickers...with Fitz and Leigh graduating and Smith transfering.

I'm puzzled by that. That type of strategic, long term planning is what left LSU without a QB last year. I can see that in Lester, but not in CNS. What am I missing?

You aren't missing anything. This is a chart for players on scholarships, not a roster. You have to remember those two players earned their scholarships, they weren't awarded one right out of high school.

We have one kid we are recruiting right now (see the Corey transfer thread) and a few more walk-ons on campus now.

Personally, I don't mind not having kickers on scholly's.

Cardwell isnt playing because of injury.

Fanney is playing at UNA D II.

Smith transferred back to W. V. his home state.

That's 3 scholarships that are available that I know of right now. I am sure a plan is in place or will be in place by signing day. Some players will decide to leave on their own, some will be removed for discipline, some will give up football because of injury, some may be on another type of aide and some I have no idea.
