Love this quote:

• Will Jevan Snead regain his form? The preseason dark horse Heisman candidate's uninspired performance (107 yards, 1 TD) was a big reason Ole Miss fell to South Carolina in Week 4. The Rebels rebounded last week to beat Vandy, and Snead notched three scores. But he also threw three picks. And once again failed to complete 60 percent of his passes. If the Gamecocks and Commodores proved that challenging, it's hard to imagine Snead finding his comfort zone against a ferocious Alabama front. The Tide, though, have an unproductive offensive star on their hands, too. Julio Jones established himself as one of the nation's most dangerous receiving threats last season, but he's done next to nothing this year. Greg McElroy has admitted he wants to avoid forcing too many passes Jones' way, but a top five national talent should have more than nine catches -- and one Big Play -- through five games.

No, I'm not talking about the "five games," since we all know it should read three.

What I find so funny in this "opinion" is the writer ignores this little jewel.

Five players with receptions over 30 yards this season.

Eight players with receptions over 20 yards this season. And, that number could easily be 10 players if you give Preston Dial and Terry Grant another step. (19 and 18 yard receptions respectively.)

As I said earlier in another thread, the difference is this:

Last year the ball was thrown to Jones or up in the stands.
This year the ball is being thrown to other receivers.

Yeah, it kills me how the "experts" keep saying that 'Bama "has" to get the ball to Julio if it wants to keep winning.

Julio seems to be happy with doing whatever is needed for the win, and he will get his catches. To me, spreading the ball around seems to be working pretty well.

One question for Terry P:

I've had the theory that the plays that were called last year were pretty basic and had 1 read or at the most 2, and that this year MacElroy is seeing the field well enough for the coaches to trust him with plays that contain more reads.

Is that a valid theory?
