🏈 Sabans first big mistake and other thoughts

I cant believe that I sat and watched Saban allow 30+ seconds just tick away before UT attempted the last field goal....could have been a HUGE BLUNDER had TN made the 3 points....We would have atleast had enough time for 4 or 5 plays maybe to set up for our own FG attempt. I was very disappointed in the play calling today...especially the failed pass attempts in the endzone..should have just ran it in...and a few other calls but thats the main one that sticks out. This notion that McElroy has been overwhelmed by the speed of the SEC defenses is a bunch up garbage IMO...Doesnt he practice against our D every week :headscratch: I would think he knows what fast is. Thank goodness we have a week off....almost come a week too late:panic:Some tired kids out on the field. A passing game must emerge against LSU....from somewhere...anywhere. Tiffin plays another awesome game with outstanding effort...along with Cody....he may be 350 lbs. but its all heart.....hes like a big ole Brett Favre...gotta love the guy:lol: Tennessee played a helluva game and I think alot more of Crompton...he has a very good arm...Kiffin and pop have done a great job and they should be getting progressively better...as I hope we do. A win is a win...ugly as hell..but its a win:a:

Good point about McElroy practicing against speed.I am not sure calling timeouts befiore the kick would have helped. Don't think we had a QB that could drive it the length of the field in that time period.

Heres another good point......
1. Miss St coaches turned that offense around in one year and they look good.
2. Petrino did too at ARk.

McElwain has had plenty of time to work with one of the best QB out of Texas and our O is still struggling. I am wondering if McElwain is going to work out for us.

Agreed on the play calling at the five. Why we threw two passes is beyond me. ut could not stop our run. Did McElroy check off on those? Maybe...

I still wonder why Bama didn't throw down the field more, at least just to keep ut honest. Even if it's an overthrow... Bama needs to stretch the field, and I would throw long to Julio even for a jump ball now and then.

A win is a win. Bama will not win them all unless the offense does something.

We cant win against LSU or Florida if this level of offensive play continues....I totally expected McElroy to jump right in a play well....Yea, we are winning games but the offense has progressively played worse....No shots were taken downfield to amount to anything...maybe nothing was there...I dont know...We certainly missed Peek ALOT. We cant expect Tiffin and our D to win every game...that streak will come to a screeching halt with LSU...They have a QB that will throw the ball....and can hit receivers down field. Maybe some rest will help..and some more preperation....but Im afraid we are seeing why McElroy has always played 2nd to someone....but I really hope I am wrong.

kickoff coverage still stinks. They started on the 35 or better on every kickoff. I am not sure why we keep forcing the pass inside the 5 yard line. I suspect we have seen the last of it ass of today. BTW Cody deserves to run the ball 1 time as a reward for basically winning the game for us today.

Greg has happy feet, drifts in the pocket, goes through his reads too fast, and isn't seeing the whole field. There were receivers open all game and he had ample time to go through his progression and make the correct throw. He is rattled. To his credit he didn't throw any to them, but there were numerous opportunities to go down the field. This team will go as far as he goes. If he regroups and regains his form from 2nd half VT we're a great team that can beat anyone. If not, we might not get to SECCG.

This team needed this off week two weeks ago. That Ole Miss was a leave it on the field type of game, and we did that. There was little enthusiasm or much left for South Carolina after that. Then, to have to gut it out against a rival like Tennessee is tough. This one had upset written all over it, and they nearly got it.

After this week off, either we will show LSU who is boss, or they will beat us, and we will know that they are the better team. It's really that simple.

The same MSU team that averages about 5 turnovers a game. You havent watched much of MSU this year if you think they have turned it around on offense, they are better but no where near turned around. Petrino is doing a decent job with Arkansas but I wouldnt say they are world beaters my no means. McElwain is doing a good job. He doesnt get 2nd guesses like we do, he gets first guess and that is it. Bottom line is McElroy needs to step up his game.

I thought I mentioned this about stretching the field.
