There are some really good comments here about tuberville.  I think the most spot on comment here is the fascination with where Auburn perceives their football program to be.  How many National Titles do they legitimately have?  How many SEC titles?  The numbers just don't compete with Bama, or some other big name programs.  Nothing wrong with that.  But we see this happen at other state institutions that are lesser in their success to a big state University.  Take NC State for example.  Clearly, UNC is the big dog in that state in Basketball, and even Duke might be bigger.  NC State is #3.  From when I lived up there though, the Wolfpack fans have some seriously delisional thoughts of where that program should be.  Consider Texas A&M.  They are clearly the lesser football program in Texas, but they have had some success in the past, and believe that they naturally should always be there.  It's just not the case.  Texas rules the state in recruiting, and what they don't get, folks like Oklahoma and LSU get.

Common little brother mentality.  The sooner auburn comes to the realization that they have come to a great new plateau in the program (6 in a row...), why not be content and keep working to get better?  Do they completely have to scrap the whole coaching staff and mentality of the offense to be different?  It's like starting all over again.

Also, it wouldn't hurt my feelings to see them hire someone with no HC experience.  That is just even more we will beat them and out-recruit them.  But if I were them, and they think they truly are ready to make the next step, then it's gonna cost big $$$$$$.  It took a lot of money for us to send Shula packing, and even more to bring in the quality we have now.  Auburn should be looking not for another "up-and-comer" but rather an established winner at the collegiate or pro level.  I honestly don't think they have the ability to make a hire like that, which would truly be an upgrade.
