I wanted say a few things about Tua Tagovailoa now that the big game is in the books. While LSU quarterback Joe Burrow was sensational in the LSU Football Tigers’ 46-41 win over Alabama Football, I think the network TV announcers missed out on something. As the game wore on, Burrow all but clinched the Heisman according to the announcers. Burrow went 31-39 for 393 yards and 3 TD’s (like I said, sensational), and when all is said and done, Burrow is your likely Heisman winner. Yet there was Tua, another Heisman candidate, throwing for 418 yards and 4 scores on one leg just 20 days after ankle surgery- he could barely walk after the game. I got to thinking that what Tua did in the game may have been more impressive than what Burrow did (that second half comeback was incredible). And Tua? He posted on Instagram Saturday night, ā€œ1 leg or not, the Game needed some loving, so I gave it my heart.ā€
Of course in the eyes of Heisman voters, wins count, and certainly Joe Burrow is winning. Tua may not win the Heisman, but I say kudos to Tua for reminding us what a true warrior he is- he is a true man who on Saturday reminded Bama fans that he will go down in UA history alongside Joe Namath, Ken Stabler and others as one of the greatest UA quarterbacks ever.
As a Heisman voter for many years, I know that most voters will take notice of Tua’s valiant effort, and remember, there is still time for players like Tua and Jalen to chalk up more numbers.
In the next day or two, perhaps voters will start believing that Tua’s admirable efforts actually helped his Heisman chances. Will Tua win the Heisman? Probably not, but I know that Tua has the voter’s utmost respect. I know that you respect Tua, too.
PS: I also noticed that as the game ended, Tua was comforted by his brother Taulia. I know that Tua appreciated the love from his little bro.
Those are my thoughts. What are yours?

Nothing wrong with a mom being a son’s biggest cheerleader. Probably a little embarrassing to him . But ,

The defense is the reason we lost this game . The offense scored enough to win but not being able to get stops to help continue the momentum of the comeback. Our defense had us playing catch-up the whole game .

Our D-line can’t get pressure on their own , at least not on a consistent basis . And Burrow picked us apart .

The loss was a team effort. Turnovers on offense and an inability to sustain drives kept putting our defense on the field. Special teams mishap flipped the field. And yes, the defense couldn't stop them at critical times.

Tua is also the person that committed two crucial turnovers for us while playing on one leg. He fumbled on the first series with nobody around him and threw a crucial interception just before halftime. Yes, the kid has heart. Yes, he is to be admired for almost pulling out a win when our defense had 3 straight opportunities to get off the field on 3rd and long and could not do it. Yes, he has my respect and admiration. IMO, we all remember him coming off the bench to rally us to victory in the NC game and cement himself in Crimson Tide lore. Yesterday, just wasn’t the day to make mistakes against a good team. We all expect him to bounce back and hopefully, lead us to wins the remainder of the season. Just wish I could say that about our defense and right now...I can’t sat those words.

I played sports , I understand the whole team concept thing . But our defense has been suspect all year .

Yea Tua fumbled the ball on LSU’s 8 yard line or wherever but the defense allowed the 90 yard drive , for the TD no less . And you hate to see the interception but when you only run the ball like 7 times in the first half and are then trailing in the second half the way we were , interceptions become almost an inevitability against an above average defense. If not for Tua being so accurate there would be more .

I love Tua and have been an unabashed supporter for longer than most....

But I think his Heisman moment may have came on third and short when he slid down short of the marker. Right before the turnover on downs. Could have tried to truck that dude, juke him, or hell just fall forward... But he slid.

As much as it pains me, Burrow deserves it over Tua. Lots of football left but it will be hard to shift that momentum.

I just went and looked it up and as of today

Our defense is 30th as a team
Give up 4.8 y.p.p.
Give up 335 y.p.g
Ranked 50th in 3rd down conversions.
Ranked 38th in passing defense
Ranked 78th in red zone defense
Ranked 33rd in rushing defense
Ranked 25th in passing defense

This is our Achilles heel this year . Maybe coach can get it fixed and we get the help we now need to get back in it .

Yeah they beat us with our QB crippled but if he had been 100%, there's no way in hell they beat us. We almost beat them anyway! But they won and to the victors belong the spoils. And everyone one of them can kiss my ass.

Nothing you said changed the facts, or the conclusion. A muffed snap, key drops by normally sure-handed WRs, a fumble that lost at least a FG attempt, and an INT that occurred in the first half when we were down 13- not in the second half when we were playing catchup. And a defense that couldn't stop them when it mattered. Team loss. I understand, typically if you get 34 points from an offense, you'll win. We came up against an offense that is as good as ours in some respects, that was not making mistakes.

Team loss.

Yeah, it's not like Tua's injury had any impact on the final score anyway. He still threw for 400+ yards and what, three or four touchdowns? That's what you'd expect a 100% healthy Tua stat line to look like sans the INT & fumble, which had nothing to do with the injury.

Gentleman. We had 4 turnovers when you throw in the turnover on downs. LSU zero. They played mistake free and they got the calls.. zero offensive pass interference calls on major pick plays all night. No face mask on the waddle return but facemask call on us for hand rubbing across a fa mask. The missed step out of bounds thing was just icing.

Now consider it took 4 turnovers, every call and non call possible and a perfect game by them to win by 5 points...

Our defense is sub standard for us but mainly it was out linebackers that cost us.. I said before the game that Joe burrows scrambling was a major concern. Whenever we had the in third down they didn’t take any chances they occupied the linebackers with window dressing and let Burtow run it. I don’t know how many firstdowns he accounted for with scrambling but it was a bunch.

I say all that to say we got beat but they are not the better team. Win out control what we can control and we can get another chance with refs who hate us equally..loli
