| NEWS Recruits don’t think Nick Saban is retiring, but Alabama is being proactive to counter the narrative

I’ve heard that since taking the job at Georgia that Kirby has turned into a “slime ball” or ass hat or whatever adjective you’d like to use. Not sure if that’s true or not. @TerryP you’d know better than most.

I think Alabama fans are claiming that due to the recruiting battles that have occurred. He's still Kirby. When Saban steps down, however, it won't be Kirby who takes his place. Kirby is home at UGA.
I'm not quite sure what you're saying here, OP. "Claiming that due to ..." versus know he's pulled some BS when it came to kids calling Mo's mom when he was still at Bama, or the picture of the recruiting board he took and then used on the recruiting trail...just as a few examples?

He's been pushing the envelope since he left Tuscaloosa.

(While this is not against the NCAA's rules it is symptomatic of the general feelings in Athens. Within the last few days the UGA football account on Twitter wa suspended again. This past time longer than it had been on earlier occasions when they "broke Twitter rules." This last instance was DMCA related...to the tune of their 6th offense over a short period of time. Now, you may be thinking "that's no big deal, it's just music copyright issues." That's true...but if you're willing to break those repetitively, what else are you willing to just let slide. Symptomatic.)

And for what it's worth I considered his actions to be of a pissant/asshat before he left Tuscaloosa.

Key phrase: "...it's not against the rules." Kirby used what was available to him and it worked. It was claimed that he took a picture of the recruiting board. Does anyone know this for a fact? He was so involved in creating the board, he probably could have recreated by memory. You don't think any of his coaches brought knowledge of recruits to pursue? All of this is clutter. It takes up room in your head that could be focused on steps to move forward.

Yes. It's a known fact he did that. There's a lot that hasn't been put out there as well. When asked if he was a "slime ball" or an "ass hat" it read like you blew those descriptors off. They aren't.

His behavior now is a genuine reflection on how he was in his last few years in Tuscaloosa. We know there's been some staff dissent at times and it's been a common refrain to point to people like Lane. When, at times, it was as much Kirby stoaking the flames as anyone.

When Saban is asked questions about former assistants in current HC positions, you can tell he's being very careful when speaking about Kiffin. When he speaks about Kirby, it's a different tone and he's more open. I don't think it would be that way if Kirby was an "asshat."

I’ve always had to work to like what I saw of KS (TV/interviews) while he was at Bama, easiest 180• I’ve ever turned. He’s like Urban on steroids in my mind. Biggest difference is Urban has earned a right to be a prima dona.

Time will tell if players enjoy playing for Kirby and coaches enjoy coaching. He is a micromanager and if you have that mentality you run the risk of wearing people out. I can see assistant coaches getting tired of the constant meddling in the most mundane parts of their job. I'm sure Smart is still having withdrawal symptoms from his DC days, but last season Kirby looked like he was calling the defense a lot more than Tucker. I do wonder just how heavyhanded will his managerial style continue to be?

You are talking about when Saban says something about both guys publicly and in front of the media. He's talking about what is in the Moore facility about Kirbs.

I’m surprised that he was even that way prior to leaving Tuscaloosa. I guess I just always thought he seemed like a good dude.

Also surprises me that he would be like this to Saban who has done an immense amount for him both personally and professionally.

He cant be worse than what Saban appears to be like in that regards?
