The Oakland Raiders have exercised their option on wide receiver Amari Cooper's contract for the 2019 season, the NFL team announced on Monday afternoon.
The fifth-year option for Cooper will cost the Raiders $13,924,000 for 2019. His base salary for the 2018 season is $700,000 in the final season of the four-year, $22,663,116 contract he signed after Oakland selected him with the fourth choice in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Under the NFL's collective-bargaining agreement, the four-year rookie contracts of first-round draft choices come with a fifth-year team option, which must be exercised between each player's third and fourth seasons.
As a top-10 pick, Cooper's 2019 salary will be the average salary of the 10 highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL.
