TUSCALOOSA -- Unlike teammate Terrence Cody, Rolando McClain didn't make the cut to four finalists for the Lombardi Award, but Alabama's junior middle linebacker still is in the running for other trophies, such as the Butkus, Bednarik and Lott awards.

Alabama has put together a flier that promotes McClain, and more fliers probably will follow for other players who are in the running for awards, such as Heisman Trophy front-runner Mark Ingram.

yes

Knowing how Saban is, I find this a little surprising but I like it the idea. It will bring recognition to our program as producing great athletes. It is also motovation that if players work hard they can achieve national recognition. Seems to be good for recruiting too.

Penn State claims they are linebacker-U my azz! :a:

It does seem counter the the Bama I grew up with, buit that was then. Coach Saban is driving this bus and I trust him.

My first thought when I moved this thread from the news forum? It wasn't about recruiting, or the award.

Draft status. Not that Ro would need it...but, I thought this campaign is aimed a lot of different people.

It always helps the program's recognition and positive perception for the achievements of players to be promoted. The trick is promoting the players as a part of the organization and not going Tebow Promise Plaque.
