Was anyone else impressed with Gilberry's vertical and long jump? At least compared to the other guys, he looked goooood. Also, what about this Witherspoon guy? Was he a track star at Stillman or what?

At quarterback, freshman Greg McElroy switched jerseys to No. 12.

That had to be thrill for him. Hopefully it will also be an unintended source of healthy competition for improve QB play this fall.

I always thought K.Brown had the most potential but he never really became that star he could have been.

I'd agree with his potential, but when it came to being a "tough" football player he missed that boat from day one.

I agree, but he did have one "tough" moment. He got hit so hard on that TD he caught against FSU that I doubt he knew where he was. That was one of the few catches in traffic that I remember him making.

Yeah, that shocked me.

He was the one that had the run in with the fence at BDS, wasn't he? Vs USCe?

Yep. He hit the fence hard. And IMO, that's about when his career went down hill. He played a lot better before the fence incident. After the fence, I think he played not to get hurt.

With the FSU game, all I could think about when that happened was "Is that Keith Brown or Rod Tidwell?"

Yeah I was at that game, he hit it so hard it looked like he broke his neck. I'll have to agree that he was really tentative ever since then.

I think I've told Terry this before, but I've never seen anyone faster in all of my days of Alabama football than Keith Brown when he split the seam vs. Florida '05 for the long TD. Unbelievable!

He also showed the jets on a screen pass in the Cotton bowl that year. To bad he was more consistent!!!
