šŸˆ OT: Texas A&M regent wants Kyle Field named 'House that Johnny Built'

One other notable thing about the new Kyle Field?

A proposed name.

In an update Monday in College Station, Texas A&M regent Jim Schwertner suggested that the Aggies rename their stadium 'Kyle Field: The House that Johnny Built.'

He's kidding, right? Well, let's turn it over to Brent Zwerneman, who covers the Aggies for the San Antonio Express-News and Houston Chronicle.

Before proposing a name for the stadium, Schwertner thanked Manziel for getting the school the money to renovate Kyle Field, which is why he believes they should do something special for him.

"I hope the Aggie Nation will come together and decide that's something they want to do," Schwertner said.

What do you think, Aggies fans: In favor of 'The House that Johnny Built,' or want to keep Kyle Field the way it is?

AJ did more for UA than Johnny Drama ever did for tamu. Have we been reading/hearing crazy talk like this? Uhm, no...And I wonder why... :notall:

Disagree with you on this. He was inserted at the perfect time, moving into the SEC, $450m stadium expansion, Heisman, brought TAMU alot of press (they would have received some coming into the SEC). Johnny was TAMU football and Alabama has game managers.

I would tell them to keep Kyle Field. Then I would name the ticket booth and concession stand House that Johnny Built. That were the money come to during the game.

So, assuming this gets passed, we're looking at Kyle Field, The Home of the 12th man, the House that Johnny Built.

What amusing to me is IF this actually happened, A&M would end up paying Manziel for the rest of his life and beyond for the use of his name.

Such a dichotomy. It's named Kyle Field because a professor used his own money to build stands for athletic fields and they may add a players name/phrase to it—a player who used the university to put money in his pocket.

One thing to consider is the renovation was scheduled before JM took a snap in 2012.

That right he own the copyright or the TM doesn't he?

Yeah, Manziel made these Aggies open up their pocket and write some big ole checks. I'm sure it would have happened eventually as they love showing up their big brother. But he certainly put it on the fast path...perfect storm if you will.

And by the way, I'm not minimizing AJ's importance to Alabama. I realize his importance and his legacy, but let's face it, without Johnny, TAMU would be in a much different place (although I need to remember where they've placed in the SEC the last two years...how much worse would a few more loses made things).

I've watched the Aggies for 12 years up close. They have changed since leaving the Big XII...they've grown louder and in a way more annoying. They talked about the SEC record, how many drafts the SEC has rather than talk about their own metrics. They are Auburn on steroids.

I will say, some of the nicest fans I've ever met. But they are weird.

It bears noting you live and work among them.

For those who aren't immersed in Texas football, it's the Mizzou group that's getting on my nerves. And it's not the fans, either. It's players and coaches.

and.....why do we care?

it's aTm. who the hell cares what they do?

Think of a garden, if you will. As it comes closer to the time it starts providing fruit you water and fertilize.

Talking about A&M, LSU, and the like occasionally serves to stimulate and grow my dislike for them—so when the season gets here, that dislike is in full bloom.
