"Auburn has deemed Friday's game an ā€œAll Auburn, All Orangeā€ event, which means Tigers fans will be encouraged to wear orange."

Here we flippin go again. You "gimmick" 'Bama...and you get destroyed! I'm sorry, but if you can't get fired up for the IRON BOWL...then you're already behind!

This should be good for at least 2 Ingram TDs! lol

I'll be honest...that jersey looks kinda cool. Just remove the word "AUBURN" and you're good to go. lol

I don't take issue with "orange and blue"...I take issue with the Auburn Tigers!!!!

Interesting it would be Nike since the Barn uses Utter Armour.

I think the whole idea of an "Orange Out" is pretty funny because that would be like saying "okay guys...Crimson Out!" , as if you don't see these colors when going to the game anyway? I dunno. I don't understand gimmicks. I don't understand Auburn.

Are these the last people on early to know that the ____ Out gimmick is played-out and does not work?

I'm beginning to wonder if the real story behind this is not commercial, in that UNDER ARMOUR pays big bucks to increase the line of gear that they can offer...or something like that. At least that would make sense.

By the way, that jersey looks like what toilet paper was meant to me used for.

It has Pat Dye written all over it.

"Hey everybody, we're going to Jack Daniels out the game against Bama".

Now that sounds like Dye!

No idea what Dye's "brand of choice" happens to be. But, I do recall hearing it at one time and I don't think it was Jack.

But...

As I recall, Dye did the same think back in the late 80's. I believe it was against Georgia where the team came out in one color and changed.

Considering his involvement with the Chizik hire, the weight he carries around Auburn to this day...when I hear this I can't help but think that this "decision" was orchestrated by him "whispering" something in the ear of someone around Auburn.

I had always heard vodka and...I think SoCo was his other.

About the color orange...I do not like any of them. UT, AU, UF all wear orange and it sucks.

Looks too much like the Denver Broncos if you ask me, but it might pass as legal in a deer stand. As much as I hate to say it, I prefer UT orange over AU.

As bad as they both are I have to agree. Although UT's orange really does look like something you'd see on a prison detail picking up garbage on the highway! That said, the barn's orange is more dayglo or something.

Your memory is just a tad off.

The game you recall was in 1978, with Doug Barfield at the helm. And the contest was against Georgia.

I KNOW. I was a recruit on the sideline when the team warmed up in the regular blue jerseys and returned to the field in orange. I remember the crowd going wild.

Auburn, with a backfield of three future NFL stars - Cribbs, Brooks, Andrews, barely broke even for the season.

Funny aside. Auburn scored late in the game to tie Georgia 22-22. I was jumping up and down on the sideline all excited. Larry Blakeney, a then AU assistant charged with my recruitment, asked me why I was SO excited. I told him that by tying Georgia that opened the door to Alabama going back to the Sugar Bowl if they beat Auburn in two weeks. I NEVER heard back from him or Auburn after that day. Go figure.

(Note: At that time the SEC had a most-recent-appearance tie-breaker rule for which team went to the Sugar Bowl if two teams tied for the SEC. Alabama had gone to the Sugar Bowl following the 1977 season. Also, Georgia that year was undefeated in the SEC up to that last game versus Auburn, but lost about four OOC games. It would have been a farce for a 10-1 Alabama team to lose out on the Sugar Bowl to a 7-4 Georgia team by such a silly rule. I think the SEC abandoned that rule after that very season as a result.)
