~His quarterback rating of 170.9 ranks fourth in the nation and leads SEC starters. In terms of completion percentage, Sims is 18th nationally at 66.5. In Nick Saban's offense taking care of the football is Job 1 and Sims' interception total of three ranks behind SEC headliners like Dak Prescott (4), Bo Wallace (6) and Kenny Hill (8).
~So let's compare Sims' numbers to those of Greg McElroy (2009) and AJ McCarron(2011) through seven games. Each threw almost the same number of passes with Sims' 176 followed by McCarron's 174 and McElroy's 173. McCarron had the slight advantage in completion percentage (67.2 to 66.5), but Sims has 368 more yards and four more touchdowns. His 249.7 quarterback rating dwarfs McCarron's (197.1) and McElroy's (137.57).
~Also keep in mind Sims is the Tide's third leading rusher (40 attempts, 208 yards). He nets 5.2 yards per attempt, the same average as Derrick Henry and just behind T.J. Yeldon's 5.3. Sims has been sacked just four times throwing 176 passes while Coker's been taken down three times in 41 throws.
