If you start looking at the rushing attack from OU you'll find one of the better examples of where the stats don't tell the whole story—or even give you a hint.

OU can claim to have a top 25 rushing attack. The Big12 can also claim to have several teams highly ranked for rushing defense.

Of course, that has to be weighed against the fact that half of the conference now employs the same offensive scheme—the Mike Leach / Hal Mumme "air raid" approach.

This was my thinking before the 2009 BCSNCG. Texas hadn't played anyone w/ a pulse that ran the ball but they were ranked high in run defense.

I rember the vaunted UT defense had not give up a 100 yd rusher all year long...........we had two of them in that game.

Oklahoma played just two top 50 running games all year, Baylor and Texas, and both of those teams ran for 255 yards each. Oklahoma's two losses? Baylor and Texas.
