The last Bama national title was in 1992. 1992 was an election year, with Bill Clinton being inaugurated in 1993. Bill Clinton was a democrat (and our last Democratic President), who followed George H.W. Bush by garnering more votes.

2008 is an election year. George W. Bush is the outgoing president. Democrat Barack Obama is looking more and more like the inevitable "next president of the United States."

Even his name is "o-bama." Its almost like "oh Bama, its time to wake up and win the national title again!"
