Dexter Lawrence is the nation's new No. 1 player, a fact that shocked the Wake Forest, N.C. native.

Lawrence, 6-foot-5, 290 pounds, heard the news first from his mother. Then social media was non-stop as the good news spread.

Fresh off an appearance at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenged presented by Under Armor, Lawrence said a visit to Alabama is high on his to do list.

"Alabama is a place that any player would want to visit," Lawrence said. "They get guys to the NFL. That's important to me. They need defensive linemen, and they tell me I'd have the chance to come in and compete for a shot at playing time. They might lose a few defensive linemen this year.

"Distance from home isn't a factor. I just want to go whichever school fits my playing style and can help me get to the NFL."

Lawrence said he wants to visit Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Southern Cal, Florida and Florida State.

His reaction to being named the top player in the country?

"I'm just staying humble with it," Lawrence said. "It was crazy to see that people recognize my hard work. I push myself to get better every day. I just want to stay humble."
