🏈 Nick Saban salutes Alabama's championship-winning softball team

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - At his Nick's Kids Fund golf event Thursday, Alabama football coach Nick Saban took time to salute the Crimson Tide's softball team in the wake of winning their first national championship.

"We're real proud of the women's softball team for what they did last night," Saban said of the tense 5-4 victory over Oklahoma in Oklahoma City.

"I'm glad it's a three-game series and not a seven-game series, because the last two seventh innings I think I was more nervous than I am in our games. You know, the cardiac kids or something."

So Saban stayed awake until the game ended at 12:31 a.m.?

"I was up last night and saw it all," he said from Old Overton Club. "I was really proud of the way our players persevered and overcame the adversity of the weather. It never affected them, and it probably had a significant impact on the outcome of the game."

I wonder if the reactions seen in the OU dugout fueled our girls "rain dance" even more. By the expressions on their faces you could see the disbelief.

I think that little delay was indeed the turning point. The OU dugout was probably looking for a longer delay and possibly have it resume tonight. It seems that our team out on the field leading cheers and stirring up the crowd swung Ol Moe over to our side for the remainder of the game.
