🏈 Next Michigan Head Coach

With Michigan currently at 2-3 on the season and a lot of anger being expressed because of the controversy about playing their quarterback with an obvious concussion, it looks like Brady Hoke's days are extremely limited. Also looks like their athletic director is under fire with a petition currently circulating with 7,000 signatures on campus calling for him to be fired. Les Miles has said he is happy at LSU. He is a Michigan alumni, and in the past, has said that was his dream job. Does anyone think he will leave LSU when mama comes calling to save her? Just curious concerning your opinions. Below are some articles discussing that dissatisfaction.

Maybe its me, but hires at big schools are rarely the obvious choice. Hoke certainly wasn't an obvious choice when they hired him away from SDSU.

But in this case, maybe the obvious ex-Michigan person would be the right fit to reconnect them with their fan base. (Harbaugh's or Miles).

Whoever it is, it certainly seems as if they'll be getting a new AD and HC.

Hoke said and did a lot of things right at first. its hard to grasp, but he took a mess that Rich Rodriguez had created and made the situation worse. Good coach at SDSU but he showed he is not ready for prime time. I admit that at the time I thought that he was a good hire.

So what are the chances coach Nuss gets the chance to Finnish the season as HC.
Michigan's primary problem is lack of offense. Since he is their current offensive coordinator, I sincerely doubt they will select him to replace Hoke. From what I read, their defense is one of the better in their conference. Greg Matttison is their DC , so he probably has the better chance of being the interim coach, if they fire Hoke before the season is over. The issue with the quarterback and the concussion is probably going to expedite Hoke's departure.

Hoke stays the season and is fired after the Ohio St. game UNLESS there is so much heat over the concussed player continues to build to the point of no return. There is a protest going on now on the UM campus calling for resignations. IMO, the medical staff is to blame for not telling Hoke the QB could not go back in the game.

He may be let go at the end of the season, but the powers that be in Ann Arbor are going to wield this situation to avoid his buyout.

No way Harbaugh or Miles bolts if the Blue doesn't come off money this time. You don't have to be a graduate of the Ross School of Business to know you aren't going to get that caliber of coach for what they were wanting to pay during the last search. U of M is going to have to join the arms race or get left in the dust.

Harbaugh was rubbing opposing coaches and players the wrong way from the start, and now he's reportedly having trouble with his bosses and his players. Could be damaged goods before the year's out. I'd rather Miles stay at LSU and continue facilitating their agonizing, slow decline.

RTR,

Tim

You really believe the medical staff didnt inform Hoke about the situation?

Hoke= ex-Michigan. Brandon (AD)= ex-Michigan.

Yet, the answer from what I'd estimate to be one-half of their fan base is "we need a Michigan man?"

Matt, as I recall, Hoke was on one of the "lists" published. It's not as easy keeping up with what other schools have done in coaching searches as it is those in the SEC...that said, I recall Hoke, Miles, Ferentz, Fitzgerald...OH, Jim Harbaugh, and some were suggesting reaching out to Patterson. Before Hoke was hired, there were credible reports about Brandon passing on Sumlin (speculated that it was due to type of offense.)

(Sort of interesting to me that Miles has had his name in the hat twice at Michigan and has the same number of attempts to get the job in Tuscaloosa.)

BTW, this is the same Brandon we were discussing several months ago in a thread about UM cutting ticket allotments with students, changing prices, and the loss of a lot of the student ticket purchases for this season.
