🏈 Nation's top defensive end Jonathan Allen commits to Alabama

Alabama continued a big week of football recruiting on Monday morning by landing a commitment from one of the nation's top defensive ends, 6-foot-3, 245-pound Ashburn, Virginia star Jonathan Allen, according to a report from BamaOnline.

Allen, rated a five-star prospect and the nation's No. 1 weakside defensive end by 247Sports, visited Alabama over the weekend and had named the Crimson Tide his favorite back in February. Allen chose the Crimson Tide over offers from Florida, USC, Oklahoma, Ohio State and many more.

"I felt like at the end of the day, Alabama is the best fit for me. I felt that in three years, I'd be more developed if I went there than anywhere else," Allen told BamaOnline's Charles Power.

Allen compiled 102 tackles and 15 sacks as a junior at Stone Bridge High School last season. Allen is the 14th commitment for Alabama in its 2013 recruiting class and gives the Crimson Tide the No. 2 recruiting class in the nation behind only Michigan in the 247Sports team rankings.

This is another DAYUM!

With Nkemdiche...geez.

Seems built for our JACK.

His comments this morning: “I felt like at the end of the day, Alabama is the best fit for me. I felt that in three years, I’d be more developed if I went there than anywhere else,” said Allen of his commitment.

Probably needs to hit the weight room...

Does look a little on the small side for a DE. Also noticed the bold/underline. Looks like he has no plans to stay all four years.

Man this guy is something else! I remember when his name popped up a couple of months ago, I thought that Florida had a way better chance to get a committment from this kid! I'm glad I was wrong on that! haha This a huge pick-up and I can't wait to see this kid on the Capstone barring he doesn't decommitt then committ elsewhere or have any eligibility issues!

So if I'm thinking right, this has no effect on the recruitment of Nkemdiche, right?

I thought my sig would define my statement. I guess I should have included :sarca:

He does have a great frame for a kid his age. I can easily see him around the 265-270lb mark and still be a force from the JACK position.

Here's my thoughts based on what I've learned.

It was a one or the other scenario; Allen or DeMarcus Walker. With Allen's commitment, it's a safe bet that Walker stays in state and that's likely to mean he's a Gator.

Nkemdiche is already in the 275-280 range. He's a little taller than Allen and the staff feels he can easily reach the 300-310lb mark. As I see it, RN is destined to have his hand in the dirt as a DE.

As to your last sentence; worry much? :smug:

I guess I should have added the :sarca: also. Sarcasm doesn't always play well on the net.

I spent a few hours this morning out on the reservoir...forgot the sunglasses and my hat...so, I'm a little brain baked. I'm not surprised I missed it, AT ALL!

All we accomplished was getting the lines wet.

Bad day of fishing > good day at work almost anytime.

True.

However, considering my schedule about the last place you'll find me is on the water when I should be in the office. Fishing when it's dark outside in this area?!?!? No. Thank. You.

Hell, I get nervous when it's broad daylight pulling up under overhanging trees. I consider myself a pretty damn good shot but hitting a black snake in the dark? Yah, tend to miss...and if it falls in the boat it's not what you would call a "shooting friendly environment."

Friend of mine put about 6 holes in the bottom of his boat shooting a snake that fell out of a tree into it.

You think that's bad?

I have a friend who lives in Memphis we call "Smokey." (His mom gave him the nickname...and, while he smokes cigarettes that's not the reason.)

He was fishing a few years ago up on Lake Moultrie and had a moccasin drop in his boat. He had his .22 stuck in the waistband of his pants and as soon as the snake fell he grabbed the gun. Unfortunately, he grabbed it with his finger inside the trigger guard.

Bang. And yes, he was rushed to the hospital as soon as they got back on shore. To say the least, he says his "member" isn't straight anymore. Literally, it was left hanging on by the skin.

It came very close to changing the way we communicate with each other. When he was a jerk we'd all call him a dick. That was almost changed, permanently, to him being called an ass.

The marvels of modern medicine.

Something dealing with Jonathan Allen fishing with sun-burned snakes that shoot holes in things with guns?!?
I'm lost.:headscratch: (How do they the gun? That have no fingers?)

They hold it their mouth and pull the trigger with their tail.
