I've been around a lot of Labradors and they are not by disposition a vicious or dangerous breed. They are very playful however, and if not properly trained can play pretty rough, to the point of "play" bites. Unless a Lab has been abused I can't imagine it dealing out a serious bite unless it feels its family is being threatened.

I agree. Labs in general are a very playful breed, and IMO aren't "dangerous" at all. I had a Golden Retriever that had been abused by a previous owner and it didn't take long at all to turn him into a very friendly and playful family pet. He stayed with us for years until we moved out here in the 'sticks'. He took off one day chasing after some deer that ran through the yard and I never saw him again.
