Ive been approached by a few people about this hit.....asking me if I thought it was flagrant....or a dirty hit. My immediate responce was no.....absolutely not. Then I had to ask why they thought it might be....and several told me it was because the kid was knocked out.....I told them basically that football is a contact sport and sometimes kids get knocked out....get over it. Here is a video of the hit.....looks 100% clean to me.

Talked to Carl Millner (his Uncle) today and asked him about it. I was braging on Dee saying what a great hit it was.
He agreed but said Dee kinda felt bad about it after the game was over and went to check on the guy. He told me Dee
said it was intended as a clean hit but becuase the way the guy was kinda sliping by the time Dee actually impacted him...
he was out of position from where he lined up the shot.

IMO was a clean hit. Beyond anything, even football being a rough & tumble game...it is a game of MOTION.
It's not played standing still. Once a players body is in motion, and commited....it's not always easy to change directon or stop
if your comming full on. and if you not comming full on you not playing. So second hand....acording to Dee it wasn't intentional.
He came off his block, saw the ball carrier and took a shot. He was aiming for his numbers......but when the guy kinda lost his footing he sliped into the hit.
And after watching the tape a few more times i belive him. was a clean hit and i don't think he could have avoided the helment contact.

I was only surprised they didn't throw the flag on that play ONLY because they're airing out the laundry this season so far. I think if it had been intentionally a helmet to helmet it would have been called, but even the officials occasionally recognize things happen sometimes.

Maybe i don't understand the rules, but i thought helmet to helmet penalties was mainly for QBs and defenseless receivers going up for a pass?
If a running back or WR on a reverse play is running the ball, i wouldn't think getting a shot on the head would get a flag.
Horse collar or clothes line type tackle would draw a flag though.

I didn't see anything Dee did wrong, i did notice that it was very close to being a fumble, the ball fell out of his hands.

have you guys heard the idea of removing the facemask from helmets as a way of protecting some of the players more... thought that was an interesting idea on how to minimize some of the injuries.

Yes.....I heard that several times last year but it was involving the NFL. One of the psychologist on FOX sports that I saw even went as far as to recommend doing away with helmets alltogether.....with the rationale being all players would be more aware and cautious about the hits and where they make the hits....and it makes since.....in a goofy and twisted kinda way. He stated that the reckless behavior of just throwing ones body around would cease and players would actually learn to tackle correctly and execute those tackles.
