🏈 Man are we spoiled or what?!

Think about it... we just beat Penn State...by 16 points... ON THE ROAD in front of nearly 110,000 fans... with a BRAND NEW QB that's never started on the road and didn't turn the ball over... yet the majority of the fans can do nothing but harp on the negatives...

Damn have we gotten to that point where we can't even enjoy wins like this before negative nancies bring everybody else down? Just my opinion, maybe I dont know what I'm talkin about though...

It's been my response to folks all week long....

Person #1: We ran the ball up the gut too much...
Me: But we won by 16 points on the road...
Person #2: AJ can't make some of those throws against LSU...
Me: But we won by 16 points on the road...
Person #3: But the O-Line wasn't great...
Me: But we won by 16 points on the road...

I'll let Coach Saban worry about all that other stuff...

For me, it's on-field performance versus rating predictions with a dash of deja vu. Bama is so highly rated this year (Phil Steele has them winning the BCS bowl!!!) that when the guys deliver a generally decent performance like the Penn game, the small but very noticeable negative elements (sitting on leads with conservative play, failing to score on the 2 with a man open 10 feet away, inexcusable defensive lapses resulting in a touchdown, etc) stand out like sore thumbs. Why? Because those are the exact same problems they had last year. And all those little problems eventually steam rollered into one nightmarish Iron Bowl.... well one half anyway.

Maybe I'm blowing it out of proportion, worrying unnecessarily, expecting too much...but nevertheless, I see my worries not as negativity... just... well.. worries.

I disagree. The overwhelming majority that I speak to are positive about the teams performance......especially AJ.

IDK maybe its just everybody im around... but really i cant say that because its like that from what ive seen on twitter and even on here... even the ppl that im around that bragged on AJ would always bring up the "but he cant do this or that against LSU". idk maybe im just getting annoyed over nothing lol

Honestly this original post is the biggest thing that bugs me about this forum. I mean I love the moderators, I feel like everyone here is quite informed and gives honest opinions while critiquing others fairly and accurately, but no one here seems to have the "step on their throat" mentality. And I don't understand that... Saban preaches "60 minutes" "excellence in everything you do" yet no one here has those high expectations, they just want to get by. I mean from a football fans' standpoint how can you ever be satisfied with beating a team by 16 points if you could have beaten them by 17? I said earlier I would have loved to make a statement to the rest of the country and to our future SEC foes by beating PSU on the road by 30 and yet it seems like everyone else hates that idea, I thoroughly disagree with everything in this original post because like the people you're arguing with said, you can always improve on stuff, a football team in the SEC can never be satisfied and there's nothing wrong with that. Does that mean we're spoiled? No, b/c if we were losing all the time like we were in the early to mid 2000s (to an extent) we'd still be saying our team needs to get better-- it's not about just getting the job done, it's about being perfect in everything you do... Yes we'll let Coach Saban worry about the ins and outs but come on, be a true Bama fan and want to beat the hell out of everyone you play-- Go rewatch the tradition video and then try and tell me you're satisfied with beating Penn State by 16.

Pretty much everything you just said is absolutely ridiculous. RIDICULOUS. I haven't seen a single person that has said that we cant be better or that we dont have things we need to work on and improve on, ur just putting words in peoples mouths with that. I'd love to have beaten Penn State by a 100, but I (apparently unlike u) understood that we had a new QB starting on the road for the first time in an EXTREMELY hostile environment.... so i understand the more conservative, pound on em for 60 minutes, throw in some play action and passing attack to keep them guessing, gameplan. and dont question my or anyone elses "fandom" because we're cool with a 16 point win and ur acting like a spoiled kid and wants "MORE MORE MORE MORE!" I remember when we would have killed for a win like this... when we were lucky to beat Ole Miss and Mississippi State by 3...and the 3-8 seasons... now we're disappointed with a 10-3 season... thats an awesome turnaround.

and since u wanna talk about tradition...y dont u ask urself if Bear Bryant would have been happy with a 16 point win over Penn State...

Thank you for repeating that twice... that helped.

Then why are you disagreeing with Persons #1-3? All that those people were saying is that we have things we could have done better and you're saying you're just happy we won by how much we did. Now of course, that was a huge win and by 16 points was great-- we covered!! hahah. But you say you would have loved to have beaten them by 100? Then why can't you just agree there are things we could have done that would have led to that result... that's exactly what Persons #1 and 2 are saying...

Are you really saying we couldn't have beaten them by your aforementioned 100 points? It seems like you're saying b/c of the new QB, the hostile environment etc, that we just couldn't have beaten them that badly and therefore we need be satisfied with a 16 point margin rather than clammer for more, but you can't honestly be serious? You really think that 27 points was all we could muster on Saturday?

and dont question my or anyone elses "fandom" because we're cool with a 16 point win and ur acting like a spoiled kid and wants "MORE MORE MORE MORE!" One, why think back to the "bad" days when we would have "killed for a win like this," those days are behind us and now we don't have to kill for wins-- so what the hell is wrong with wanting "MORE MORE MORE MORE," who sincerely doesn't want "MORE MORE MORE"??? You? Then I'm glad you're not dressing out ever Saturday b/c I can guarantee you all 22 players wearing the Crimson and White want more more more and that's why they came to Alabama and that's why they're starting. And yes, you are correct, it is an awesome turnaround. Awesome. Because now we can legitimately want that "MORE MORE MORE"

and since u wanna talk about tradition...y dont u ask urself if Bear Bryant would have been happy with a 16 point win over Penn State...

You know good and well the Bear would'a put 100 up on them if he could. No way in hell he would'a settled for 16 points if he knew he could do more.

Therefore, to conclude this long post, everyone-- myself, persons #1-3, and everyone else on this forum-- was happy with the win in Happy Valley by 16 points. But by no means does that mean they shouldn't point out the places we can improve upon and hope we do improve upon them. Personally, I like Persons #1-3, I think they have the right attitude. They're the ones that won't be satisfied with the top 10% b/c they'll want the top 1%, and with their attitude-- they'll get it.

No thats not what they were saying or what I was saying, I was happy with the win and the way we played... and u were missing the entire point... this is what ppl were saying minutes after the game... not 3 days later when we're talking about it... I'm referring to ppl not even wanting to enjoy a win for a freaking minute... lets immediately get into what was wrong or not good enough...

I think that if we had pushed it, that young QB, especially in that environment, may have made some mistakes that would have hurt us and caused problems. Thats the point. You dont get.

No, I'm glad the players what more, they should. But when fans are going "well we won... but it shoulda been by 50" it gets ridiculous...

And my whole deal was directly after the game, whether ppl I was around, on twitter, on facebook were pointing these things out like they're coaches. i know we all talk about it especially as the weekend and the week goes on but good lord we need to enjoy wins like that for some time...
