šŸˆ Liberty may not receive bowl bid even though Flames could finish 10-1...

Shouldn't this same rule apply to ND when they are not playing an all ACC schedule?

That is my biggest gripe with ND. The caveat that the media creates for them. If ND joined the BIG10 or ACC, I would not hate them at all. I love their history and really respect what they mean to college football.

None of the ACC is this year. They all had one non-conference game they could play. That said, ND is playing as an ACC member this year and playing the same number of ACC games as the rest of that conference. They are also available for the championship game in the conference. So this year they really are a member in almost every respect.

I have a hard time with Notre Dame. I want them to join a conference like everyone else and not get such preferential treatment, but I also understand they have some very old an interesting rivalries they play often. USC, Navy, Stanford, Michigan, Perdue. Hard to try to keep some of those going even occasionally when playing a full conference slate.

Notre Dame arranged their bowl tie-ins when other schools were doing the same. They were "reworked" when they agreed to play a partial ACC schedule.

Liberty hadn't been in a position to have a bowl tie-in as an Independent. I believe "may not" is a key word(s) here and it's a bit of a troll in Brett's part. I have a hard time imagining a bowl turning down a 10-1 team but then again with bowl games being canceled? Will some teams have enough to play and Liberty gets the last minute call?

I hope they get their shot.

ND is supported by the richest entity on the planet, they will not diminish the money they bring in as an independent by joining a conference and have to share that cash.....unless, perhaps they get a deal like, say, Texas and have their own network (which before this season, they pretty much did with NBC) and screw the rest of the said conference out of millions.

We differ on this my friend........ eff 'em, in or out of a conference. :p

I hope they get their shot as well @TerryP . A 10-1 team is well deserving of a bowl game. Kids shouldn't be punished for who they play or don't play. Kind of like Northern Illinois playing the Orange Bowl ( I believe) that year and getting trounced.

Am I the only one expecting 90% of the bowl games to be canceled anyway? I hope Liberty makes one if they have most of them, but I just don't see it happening with these lower tier bowls.

I do not see how they are going to get all the bowls to work. I expect more than a few cancellations. Most sports are doing a bubble for playoffs in order to ensure the games happen and there are still issues at times. You can't tell me that enough kids from 4-6 Pudunk U are going to do the right thing long enough not to catch the Rona so their team can play in a meaningless game against 3-4 Backwoods State.

allowed to watch.
If you did that on purpose...

I think we probably see a good 15 bowl games. Playoffs, New Years Day Bowls, and a couple here and there of the smaller bowls. Rose Bowl got lucky this year hosting a Playoff game or it probably gets axed unless they broke tradition.

I cant see rose bowl ....getting done...period
California is so screwed up.....

15 might be right...but onlyCFPs will be worth staying up late for...
and 15 might have 30 deserving teams ....not 80 or more...with that you might get some good games...might...
Saw where someone suggested a bubble for the 4 CFP teams...in one location...all 3 games......that might work.......
I would suggest Tuscaloosa ....lol
