Last week I warned that Rashad's defense attorney's posturing could cause problems for people making an effort to resolve the situation and now it appears that is has done just that.

City attorney prepared to go to court

FWIW, all of this specualtion about greeks, TPD and profiling has started showing up on opponent's boards and I can assure you that it is showing up in conversations with recruits. Maybe everyone should step back before the damage gets worse. You think?

Recruits think more highly of what the head coach of the university, the players they talk to, and people who are close to them say moreso than things that we discuss on forums. I am fairly positive of that.

I posted what I've been told by a lot of people. I do not retract any of it. I will not repeat it, but I do not sway from it. When I was first notified of what happened with Shad, I waited it out before I commented, but it's looking like what I thought was about on line. It's not as if what was reported is rare at major universities anyway. I've heard of it happening at quite a few places.

Also, the fact that I've witnessed a few worse incidents than this occur at different bars with a few ex players of ours (former offensive lineman in the main one that comes to mind - A xCMS recruit, ironically) and the punishment was nothing makes me scratch my head.

-Edit- I don't even know if you were referring to me, but that's my piece...that's all I'm saying about it. If you'd like to make a comment about it and me see it, PM me...

No offense Bo, but we just got finished landing the number one recruiting class in the nation AFTER a 7-6 season. I'm pretty confident in our ability to recruit, regardless of what other school's recruiters might say.

You talk as if signing day is 2 weeks away.

No one asked you to retract anything. I think it's kind of funny that you think you had any information that was worth retracting. I read your earlier comments and it sounded like run of the mill unfounded rumors to me. I think the chain of events backs that up.

I have no idea where you got your information, but I know where I got mine. That's why I was comfortable reminding everyone that the comments last week were coming from a defense lawyer and warning that his comments may not help. Three days later, guess what? If you read the link, you know what happened.

As far as what is said to recruits and how those comments are relayed, I'm going on what a high school coach told me today. This particular coach has a basketball player at Bama right now. Again, I'm going with the word of the people I know. So far, they've been right on every count.

Feel free to keep posting whatever you want and opposing coaches will keep right on texting links to recruits. You're either part of the problem or part of the solution. It's your choice.

BTW, before I could even get up from the computer, this was the lead story on the 10 o'clock sports. You think any recruits are still up?

Hey, thanks for the heads up! I was wondering how recruiting turned out.

Recruiting is on-going. Junior day was about 2 weeks ago. My point is recruiting is a dirty business and this stuff will be used against us. In fact, you can bet your bottom dollar that it already has. auburn fans have burned up the talk radio phone lines in Birmingham and our own fans are saying some of the same things on our own message boards. To make matters worse, most of it isn't even true.

Coach after coach has talked openly about how these smear campaigns take place in recruiting. Why would anyone think we're immune to it? When Saban says it's important for everyone involved with the program, and he specifically included fans, do you think he was just blowing smoke? I don't.

Wow. What a bitchy thread. I think I am going to go do something that I have control over like plan out a strategy to kick Factor, '66, SuperG, NASA boy, Sheep Herder, Monkey boy, Lerch (among others) in their fantasy baseball rear ends.

Cheers!

Fear the Fat Bastards, y'all.

Hey T-Love, don't forget: "Finders KEEPERS, Losers Weepers."

You've got until 3/7 to forget about your "keepers" again, okay?

Did you notice how your list of names sounded like something the carnie barker would shout out to get folks to visit the freak show: NASA boy, Sheep Herder, Monkey boy, and Lurch (among others)?

Anyway, back to previously scheduled thread.

The point is who they believe more. The point is whether the comments hurt or help then program.

Coach Saban said in a presser a few months back that negative comments on board were indeed bad for our program.

Thus, they need to stop.
