šŸˆ Kirby Smart jabbed Johnny Manziel: ā€œHe ain’t no champion. Champion of what? Champion of fireball!ā€

Because they went off on Kirby's defense, they won their Heisman.

Was there. It just happened. Things happen. The game happened.
Get this

They intercept AJ at the goal line.
Ok
Bama holds them. Using our TOs. 4 n 3. They gotta punt
Gonna have another chancein great field position

We jump offsides
Give them a first down
They run out clock.
Game over

That play was a microcosm of the whole game.

I would like to know how that game goes if Alabama isn't coming off of an emotional win on the road at LSU. That said, I think A&M was playing as a top 3 team in the country near the end of the season.

I can appreciate that perspective. Sometimes there is also lightning in the bottle. And if you watch the Netflix documentary on Manzel, he said he was pretty much winging it against us. That's hard to deal with on defense. Lastly, Saban's teams did better with that one loss. They got better from that loss & didn't take ND lightly. The rest is history.

And I'll take that 1 loss, even at BDS, if it means they get to win the NC. Plus, BAMA got their revenge the following year at Kyle Field.

I was there also... Was a frustrating game... Bama was much better than they were but they could not get a handle on Manzel.

We always seemed to be on the struggle bus defensively when a QbB could escape the pocket and run. Good point @TerryP!
Saban's and Stalling's defense were a lot alike in that they focused on affecting the QB: not necessarily a sack, but hitting them and making them uncomfortable.

BUT.
The play when he ran into his own lineman and fumbled the ball into the air to then catch it and roll to his left and hit a wide open receiver won him the Heisman that year!!
There is no defense for that. Sometimes ...

Yep sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the other teams athlete making plays. I complain when our D does not completely shut folks down but when I am not in the heat of the moment I have to tip my hat unless you play for the Viles or Barn then I will never give you credit :).

I have no problem with Bama losing to TA&M that day.(Well maybe just a little! ) The problem I have is the way Johnny boy acted! All the crap he did and still won the Heisman. I also put Winston in the same boat.

Over the last 10 years or so if there is a game to get pissed off about it's vs Ole Miss. The football transitioned into a pinball that afternoon.

Especially the game in Tuscaloosa. The ball bounced their way every time. Yet again, the team grew from that game & Coker was able to seperate himself as the real QB & leader of the team.

I don’t remember if I’ve brought this up before, or if anyone else has, but here’s an obscure factoid which Ole Miss lore needs to recognize, if it hasn’t already. Trent Richardson, during his final season, at Ole Miss, ripped off a long TD run in the 2nd half … in doing so he shook the same defender (#21?) twice, first in the backfield avoiding a loss and later at the end before crossing the goal line after the defender had hustled enough to catch up to Trent. In that game, the Ole Miss defender was a freshman, and as good as Trent was, I’m sure it was humiliating for him to completely whiff on the ball carrier twice in the same play. Well fast forward to when we lost the next time we played at Ole Miss, the same defender made a spectacular, game saving interception in the end zone as Blake Sims hit OJ Howard. One of the best picks you’ll ever see. Quite a turnaround for #21. Pretty sure he got drafted too.
