šŸˆ Kicking vs Va. Tech getting near zero coverage

I thought it was rather good overall. I'm talking about the actual booting of the ball in all phases. Starters Foster and Mandell looked consistent. Thought Griffith did well on kickoffs and if not mistaken had more length on kickoffs than Foster but not sure about hang time....anyone? Thought pure frosh Mazza snapped well; I think he's the first freshman in SEC history to receive a scholarhip as a pure snapper.

There's a valid argument for Mendell being the most improved player for 2012.

I particularly liked one of the tackles Mandell made on a punt return. He came close to getting a flag, but he clearly was pissed about the return and he showed it in his hit. I can't remember if that was the punt that was 61 yards, but...he did hit a 61-yarder. Like Terry said, he really could be in line for most improved.

The tackle was indeed on the 61 yarder but it wasnt a situation of out kicking your coverage, there were guys down there just did a poor job of keeping him hemmed up. Mandell was killin the ball but Im not sure if being indoors had anything to do with it. Prolly not fair to give Foster much praise yet, all he did was extra points. The kickoffs were pretty solid tho, Foster's were shorter but were hiiiiiiiiiigh and coverage was on the return man QUICK.

I honestly think Foster is intentionally kicking them short of the endzone to have the opportunity to tackle the kick returner between the 15-20 yard line. Kick off coverage was MUUCCHH better than in years past, Landon Collins gets a huge nod for that.

I'm thinking that too, Saban has said in the past thats not the case but I find it hard to believe. I mean the first 3 kicks they didnt even get it past the 15 if im not mistaken, and yea Landon was a beast on special teams.
