Houston Texans cornerback Kareem Jackson is off the free-agent market before it officially started. The former Alabama standout announced on Saturday he was staying with the Texas with a four-year contract extension.

Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported Jackson's new deal was worth $34 million, with $20 million of the contract guaranteed.

Jackson has been with Houston since being a first-round selection in 2010, with the Texans picking up the fifth-year option for $3.09 million on his rookie contract before the 2014 season.

During 2014, Jackson missed three games with an MCL sprain but came back to intercept two passes against the Baltimore Ravens in the next-to-last game of the season in a must-win game for the Texans' playoff hopes. Jackson had three interceptions and 57 tackles in 13 starts as he heads into free agency.

Jackson has been a starter since he's joined Houston as the 20th pick in the 2010 draft. He has made 10 interceptions and broken up 50 passes in his career.
