🏈 Kalen DeBoer is now 19–3 vs. ranked opponents, the best record in college football history.

I have a feeling DeBoer is having a mind shift. In that, I believe he is now seeing every game as a Big Game. His intensity is shared by his players and coaches. I have never coached in a power five conference let alone the SEC, but I felt like Nick Saban, (fill in any successful coach) approached every opponent as a big opponent. I have no insider information or any hot take just what I see on the field.

He is also undefeated against Smart, Lanning and Sark.
The way things are projected he'll have to do that a few more times this season. A good chance, based on current projections, Bama plays UGA three times this season.

The things people are missing this season makes me shake my head. Records set and a fan base that's looking at the glass different than they should.

I hate speaking this way half way through a season, because it’s not even November yet, and when November gets here, it’s a whole new season almost.

But the thought crossed my mind the other day - how lucky are we as Alabama fans that CKD had the confidence, and quite frankly, the balls to take this job. To follow in the footsteps of the goat. Not many people would have taken this job. Many people would have told him it was a bad career decision….there’s no chance in hell you can appease this fanbase with the expectations set in place.

But I sure am thankful.

That being said, a lot of football left to play, and we aren’t good enough currently to win a NC. Continue to improve.

Wow... I haven't give that much thought but is a real possibility.

Along those lines..........how would you want this to play out? It is difficult to beat a team twice in one year, much less 3 times.
Would you want to win the SEC and drop it in the play off? Win the play off and lose the SEC?

Harder to play a team twice is a bit of a myth. The last time I looked, the team that won the first game was the smart play on the second game. It was close to seven of ten if I recall correctly. It's rare the second game resembles the first.

One of the things I hated about the playoff expansion was what Bama could face. Literally. We could have seen this team play Auburn in the last week of the regular season, then in the SECCG, then in the first round of the playoffs.

So now we're looking at playing UGA again in ATL. It's all on A&M to avoid that from what I've 'calculated.'

Why don't we start with something he hasn't done?

I'll swear sometimes I think you are one of the few that still edge their driveway with hand shears.
He has to do it at Bama... Things are looking up post FSU game and his past record certainly gives you hope. Honestly that is the one thing that carried me through some of the poor performances when they lost to teams as double digit favorites. It is simple, show it on the field and let it play out. I can project what might happen before the season but it does not become so until it has been done.

Hope to and expect to be here in a few years saying year one and the FSU game were anomalies.

We do have the issue that he just did. Literally. .

I hope Jawjuh doesn't make it to the SECCG. And I'm glad they scrapped the East & West divisions. The Bulldogs had a much easier road to winning their division than the West teams.

I hope not, but it is a real possibility. That is if Texas a&m loses one. Which will have to happen for us to play UGA three times. I’d imagine we will definitely play them one more time for sure.

Maybe we can get lucky and Tech beat UGA. It’s been a while.

Still fairly early in the season though. We still gotta win out and lock in that playoff birth.

As for CKD, I’ll be the first to say I was quite critical of him after last season and the FSU game. I knew better and should have given him more time. He really has this playing hard. Roll tide!

After the SECCG, it'll come down to seeding. And that's where it gets confusing after the committee says losing the SECCG won't have a bearing on the playoffs if a team is already "in" before the conference championships.

It also goes back to something we talked about here a few years ago. The four seed isn't a good place to be with the fifth seeded team waiting in the wings. As a team, I wouldn't want to be in either slot. If I lose in the SECCG, drop me to sixth if the winner of the game is a four seed. I HOPE they'll do their best to avoid rematches.

Although not definitive, it looks like, starting with UNLV-Central Michigan in 1994, most teams to lose first get their revenge in a second game, looks like the first loser is 11-5 in the rematch. I excluded the FL-FSU in 1995 since the first game was a tie.

After a stretch of good wins that still had things that bothered us, I'm seeing some changed minds - or perhaps more relaxed minds - regarding the coaching staff. I'm relieved that we are where we are, particularly after the opener, but I think the SC game is a big hurdle. As has been said, we are beat up, four consecutive ranked games, and hopefully we're not looking ahead to the BYE or reading the press clippings. One more task, rest a week and prepare for the stretch run.
