Since leaving Bama, Juwan Simpson has forged an impressive career in the CFL and yesterday mightily assisted the Calgary Stampeders in winning a thrilling 102nd Grey Cup, 20 - 16 over the feisty Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

After RB Terry Grant was cut from Hamilton several years ago due to injuries, Juwan remains the only Bama player in the CFL.

Cool to see. I caught some of the Grey Cup last night, good stuff.

Some of the best games I've ever seen have been Canadian football. One reason is the 3-down system which not only engenders a predominantly passing game, but makes for very dramatic final few minutes in a 4th quarter. Unlike in 4-down football where teams can use the clock on their opponent to kill time without actually playing, in the CFL that is virtually impossible and hence teams must snap the ball play until the final seconds, due to the limit of downs and the fact the time between plays is shorter. In short, you cannot use the clock to your advantage in Canadian ball. To that end, the one thing a lot of ex-NFLers playing in the CFL comment on about offensive playing ( in the CFL ), is that offenses consistently move through plays a lot faster than in the NFL.

I do like to tune into CFL when I can. I find the different game fascinating to watch. Plus, a lot of Americans think the Super Bowl / NFL, AFL Championships are the oldest .. sooo false, Grey Cup is 102 for pete's sake!

Do you have a CFL team you support? I used to follow the Stamps. A long time ago I had a friend from Calgary who taught me their ways lol. But I stopped following them a few years ago, it was just hard to stay interested when I couldn't see most games and when my friend moved away.

Also, upon looking at the current CFL teams, I had no idea Ottawa got another team .. Wow. Times change!

Being from Toronto, I traditionally support the Argonauts - and if that isn't one of the coolest team names in football, I don't know what is. LOL. That being said, the downside is that their color is double shades of "blue" and I HATE blue... and the droning fan cheer is so annoying.... to the tune of Arrrrrrrrrrrr Goooozzzzzzzz!!!! Nails down a chalkboard.

I now live closer to Hamilton, so I also like the Tiger-Cats; another kick ass name. I really liked the Tiger Cats when ex-Bama alum Terry Grant was playing, but was later sidelined with injury and eventually cut.

And yeah... the Ottawa Red Blacks are the new version of the once defunct Ottawa Stampeders.
