JK Scott now one step closer to becoming Green Bay Packers’ starting punter

Former Alabama punter JK Scott will reportedly get his chance to start for the Green Bay Packers after the team waived former starter Justin Vogel on Friday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Scott, who was selected by Green Bay in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft last week, signed a four-year contract with the franchise on Friday. He averaged 45.6 yards per punt during his four seasons with the Crimson Tide.

Scott was a two-time first-team All-SEC punter (2014, 2016) and an All-American as a true freshman based on several media polls. He was also a key contributor to the Tide’s two national championship teams in 2015 and 2017.

Vogel was a Pro Bowl alternate as a rookie in 2017 and ranked seventh among NFL punters with a 41.6 net average. He also allowed only 29 returns on 71 attempts and placed 19 punts inside the 20-yard line.
