šŸ“” Jaeden Roberts and lack of playing time.

I'm not sure what favors these parents think they are doing their kids by airing their grievances publicly, but just in case there is some confusion, allow me to interject... you are doing more harm to them than good.

And let me be clear on this... I'm a big fan of Roberts and believe he has an NFL future unless his medical red flags are too big.

It does seem odd he is not playing but I just assumed that was because of injuries but could be wrong. Agree public airing of grievences is not healthy but who is surprised that is what happens these days.

I’ve been wondering why he hasn’t been on the field. I was glad he stayed. On another note, I don’t think being the most sweetest and humblest people factors in to playing time. But good to know!

I've heard as many as six. I think that was mentioned back in August when we were talking about him missing parts of fall camp.

The other side of that coin we talked about as well while wondering how long it would be before we saw a guy like Carroll make moves.

Aren't we seeing 1 +1 + 1 + ...?

Carroll and Lloyd are going to be studs, I'm also pretty high on Formby, he's one of those dudes that the Football IQ is off the charts and he's been making strides in the weight room.

I love Roberts, I thought he'd be in over Vandermark and Dewberry but he just has too many issues medically and while he has the intangibles strength/size he is missing some of the Football IQ stuff that it looks like DeBoer is focusing more on for the O-line we're pushing for guys who can recognize stunts/blitzes and adjust to them, guys that don't miss blocks very often.

Once again, I do like Roberts and I think he's got all the makings of an NFL guard, if he can stay healthy and if he can learn the cerebral side more.

Roberts could be having some lingering effects from this last concussion. Playing a position where your cranium is constantly at the impact point snap after snap, the brain isn’t something to mess around with or take lightly.
As far as parents ā€œyappingā€ on social media, it is what it is. They know only what is told to them by their sons, which is only half of the story. I used to have a parent meeting before the season and lay out expectations. Told the parents that I wouldn’t meet to discuss playing time, BUT I would always meet to discuss how their son could get better. That shut down a lot of shit before it ever got started.
For all we know, Roberts and Calhoun and any others ā€œcould be tardy to meetings, tardy to class, giving less than stellar effort in practiceā€, etc.

Re: Roberts... I want to tread lightly here because I'm not trying to kick a guy while he's down some. But, missing extended time with the concussion issue didn't help him, at all. Besides that however, he's a bit bigger than he needs to be in this system, which also puts him a step slow at times. And when you are both of those things, you can least afford mental/assignment mistakes, which he's also prone to. He's not a bad guy or bad teammate though. Nor is he even a bad offensive lineman. He's a guy that can play guard or possibly tackle at the next level with some improvement. And he's a guy that would be playing right now for UA, if the Tide wasn't blessed with some other really good players along the line. In some recent years, Bama has had trouble finding 5 that could get the job done. They now have about 8 guys who are legitimate starter level players. As mentioned previously, it's a problem yes, but a good problem.

I'm confused.
"But players that LEFT are y’all’s heroes that get to start the entire game?!?"
If a player left, how do they start and play the whole game? If they left, shouldn't they be somewhere else? šŸ¤”

I assume she means left other schools, guys like VandeMark, Dewberry, Brailsford... or maybe it's a shot a Proctor who left and returned. I don't know... I get wanting your son to be out there, especially since he's good and has played a lot of snaps up to this point, but this social media griping ain't the way to go about it.

Reminds me of a line in Raising Arizona. The bad guys barge into a bank and shout, ā€œeverybody freeze and get down on the floorā€. To which an elderly customer says, ā€œwell which is it young feller, if you want us to freeze we can’t well get down on the floorā€. šŸ˜‚

I can't speak from experience. I can only assume.

We see a guy blow out his knee and it takes him awhile to come back. I'm not talking about game shape: the mental part of trusting your knee again in spite of it likely being stronger.

Now I look at a guy with multiple concussions and I can't help but wonder what that transition is like. That has to be an uphill climb considering you're getting hit in the head every single play.

Now Terry, don’t throw logic into the conversation. Do like one dumbass did in the comments and infuse ā€œracismā€!
