As many breakdowns as have been written and read over the last few days I've yet to run across one that dealt with game prep—specifically, how does one team prep for another.

The biggest advantage I see for Alabama going into this weekend comes down to personnel but not in the sense you might think. It's who we have to put on the scout team to imitate what Auburn brings offensively.

Robert Foster has been playing the role of Coates at receiver and Tyren Jones that of Tre Mason. Who's been playing Marshall? Yah, you know it's Blake. In a conversation this afternoon I was told Sims has been playing that role superbly! And, my opinion based on what I took from that conversation...put Blake down on the Plains and you've got a new starting quarterback for Auburn. But, I digress...

What I want you guys to consider for a second is who does Auburn have they can put on their scout team to imitate what AJ brings to the field? OK, what about who they would put alongside that individual to give them a chance to practice against a three wide set?

FWIW, on a different note, had a few mention the last two days have been the most intense practices of the year. One person saying that REALLY catches my attention.

I was thinking about that earlier. We have a Marshall type player (Sims) but there is no way they have an AJ or enough wide receivers that can imitate certain guys skill sets we have outside. Its obviously never going to be quite the same for anybody as the real thing but Bama can get damn close with the array of talent.

I started thinking about Blake playing the role of Marshall after watching the replay of the Auburn vs Ole Miss game prior to Bama playing the Black Bears. When those two teams faced each other the BB's didn't have an answer for Marshall—over half of his runs were for first downs. Dwelling on that it dawned on me that between Wallace and Brunetti they had a void in having a player they could use, in game prep, that had the same ability Marshall brought/brings to the field.

Our conversation yesterday about Henry being off the scout team led me to wonder who had Coates role and I asked about it yesterday...which led to who was playing the role of Tre Mason, etc.

On a side note/ramble for a bit...

I ran into a friend of mine last night who is also a big Bama fan but seldom do we get a chance to talk football due to his line of work. When I mentioned this very subject he countered with "Auburn did OK prepping for UGA." That's when the record came to a screeching halt.

Here's the thing about UGA vs Auburn. Yes, UGA has a QB that's on par with AJ and they do have a bevy of talent in their receiving corps—despite injuries. Auburn took advantage of their RT in that game. What strikes me as noteworthy is Houston, UGA's RT, is in the same class as Austin Shepard (2010 class.) BUT, as noted by a few in the pre-game coverage Houston isn't good at containing a speed, rush end. (Hence, the abuse Murray received in that game via Dee Ford running past Kolton Houston.)

(RECRUITING NOTE: Both Shepard and Houston are from the state of GA. We offered Shepard, didn't offer Houston. Is that evaluation or development? There's a question that'll be answered today; in part, at least. I KNOW they are going to try to get Ford around Shepard.)

Half delusional, the other half ticked at each other for acknowledging Saban's competence as a coach and recruiter. They are a warped bunch. That's seven minutes of reading I'll never get back.

So Matt should have linked this yesterday when you were dealing with your 24 Hour rule of Affliction? :icon_twisted:
