šŸˆ Is Kiffin Really A Genius?

I keep hearing people rave about Lane Kiffin offensive genius, but I just don't see it. His play calling is static, repetitive, and ineffective. He runs the same play three times in a row. When we are successfully running the ball all over a team he tries to throw three times in a row. Is he really any good, or is just the beneficiary of superior talent?

Both. Football is both strategy and tactics. If you have success running the ball three times in a row, what do you think the defense will expect on the next play? You run to set up the pass and pass to set up the run. Is he perfect? No, but he's been pretty good. Remember that he still has to rely on 18-21 year old kids to execute.

Kiffin is a former head coach and he deserves credit for this game. He follows a process and then takes advantage of missed plays in the next series. It is hard to predict what play he will run, unlike other teams when you see their lineup you can predict their play.

RollllTide!

I was really hoping that Saban would go give him another "chewing" and make him run the ball. Lane logic - Let's see... running the ball we score and passing we don't. Oh, let's pass the ball again.

It's not about the number of yards - it's about what keeps drives going and puts you in a position to score every chance possible.

You kind of proved my point didn't you - over 400 yds. means rushing was working more so than passing.

Soooooo we are pretty much in control of the game. Tennessee shows no real threat during the game. We know that run game is doing pretty good......and if need be we can go back to it because it hasn't been stopped.

Hey here's a good idea.....let's work on this passing game.....with real in game action. You know just in case we get in a game where someone stops the run and we have to pass.

Or just be one dimensional. Just my view of it....I dunno ĀÆ\_(惄)_/ĀÆ

During the game I always think he was dropped on his head one too many times. Then later in the game I realize he is just using what he has and calling the plays to keep things going. Yes it sucks to see him stop calling runs for passes that don't work, but damn if that doesn't keep it moving later.
