🏈 Input thread...honestly,how many have followed CNS career?

Well look at his track record. Sure he's a good coach but he's just going to leave in 3 or 4 years for another job. Nobody wants to coach in Tuscaloosa and he's just going to use Bama as a stepping stone for a real job.

I followed him when he was with Belichick and everything that followed

Watched him closely at MSt and said then he would be in the SEC. I knew LSU had done well with him but was a bit relieved as I was afraid he would get in the East and somehow end up at 10rc.

Two weeks after LSU hired him, with a jealous tone, I asked an LSU fan on the beach in Pensacola. How do you like your new coach? ...He replied ...they all say he's an asshole...but you know what... he's our asshole now.
I appreciate Coach Saban

I'll be honest.....I didn't know much about him until he was hired at LSU. What really made me take notice was when his 1999 MSU team (coached by Bobby Williams) went to the Citrus Bowl and beat Spurrier and Florida. Saban left to go to LSU leading up to the bowl game, but his game plan worked and that team finished up 10-2.

I thought if crappy MSU could be that good......then the guy coaching them couldn't be half bad.

I followed him casually at MSU, then my interest picked up when he landed in Red Stick. I thought for sure the guy must be cheating the way he massaged the 85 scholly numbers every year and kept pulling in the talent. I also thought the man had the MO of dropping one he shouldn't every year like to UAB. Turns out, the guy ain't too bad a coach is he?? :notworthy:notworthy:notworthy

I've tried on 3 separate occasions to engage Neal Mcready on his "Nick Saban won't come to Alabama/Alabama has been passed" epistle. He refuses to discuss it

I knew about him but never really followed him. And, I will admit, I wasn't too happy when Alabama started pursuing him due to his history of leaving after a few years. Boy, was I an idiot.

I remember both Jim Rome and LeBetard both saying he would never come because "Who would leave Miami for Tuscaloosa?" And that Bama was in denial that we were no longer a premier program that could hire any coach we wanted.

Then, when he was hired, every single news outlet was discussing it EXCEPT those two.... they decided the lead story was Pat Riley taking over the Heat coaching job. Then on jox one day, LeBetard claimed he never cared if Saban left because he wasn't that good of a coach anyway.

Honestly ,I didn't know who he was until he came to Alabama. I used to never worry about who was coaching each team. Even when LSU won the NC, I didn't know or care. The only team I couldn't ignore was the barn,Bama's #1 rival. How can you not know who is with them.I remember when a guy at work was saying " Nick Saban's coming to Alabama!" and I'm just standing there thinking, "Who?" I think it was after that and after I came to RTB that I paid a little bit more attention to them...just a little.

Then again ,there are some coaches you really can't seem to ignore. You know, the ones that are basically legends in the sport like Bobby Bowden (FSU) & Joe Paterno (Penn St.).

In the end, I am glad he came to Tuscaloosa, and yes, now I know who he is.

A point I think needs to be made here ...

People wonder about how the QB depth chart is going to work itself out. You really knew that answer before the team hit spring camp. On some things, Saban doesn't change much.

I had knowledge of CNS because he coached the team across town in East Lansing. You can tell that Dantonio coached for him. Dantonio is a lot like CNS. CBW needs some more, well, more.
