šŸˆ Im hearing rumblings that Saban is thinking of leaving

Oh! It must be true now! These guys are legit!! (never heard of them...)

http://thefootballbrainiacs.com/nick-saban-to-texas-appears-to-be-a-done-deal

From The Football Braniacs:
We have word now from two trusted sources that Nick Saban to Texas is a done deal. One of the sources said the money he will get is substantial (obviously) but we haven’t got any word on what that number might be.
UPDATE: for those asking for exact dates on when this is going to happen. We don’t know. We are telling you what we know which is that we have two very good sources that have told us that Nick Saban is going to Texas and one of the sources said that the money is going to be substantial. We would not have run this unless we trusted the sources.
:shake:

Two things to which I have no doubt:

One—The powers that be, specifically influential money guys, at Texas want Saban and want him badly.

Two—The claims of this site (being a done deal) are ludicrous.

If you didn't catch it, Cowherd made mention today that he'd received word from a source about how seriously these guys representing TX were about Saban. He also mentioned he spend an hour and a half trying to get confirmation the interest was mutual. He said he needed two sources before he'd run with anything and in that 90 minute span he couldn't find one.

I don't know why Saban would leave this late in his career. Texas isn't that much better of a job than Alabama if at all. But, these comments by the President of Texas mean nothing. He's basically saying that Saban has not been hired and Mack Brown is the coach. That is all in the present tense. No way he would say anything different when they are playing a game on Saturday.

If he's going to Texas he is working his tail off for us before leaving. I just heard a report that he was in Mississippi most of yesterday recruiting, then flew back to Tuscaloosa to deliver a 20 minute speech, then rush back to the plane and was off to Mississippi again for an at home visit with another recruit. Doesn't sound like someone who is on the brink of leaving to me.

Could be recruiting for Texas. I don't want him to go, but with Saban's history we can't feel good about anything until he officially turns it down, and Texas hires somebody else. My guess would be James Franklin.

First off ill preface this as a source from a source (I know). My friend (who is a huge auburn fan but not an arrogant homer and still hasnt said one negative thing about he iron bowl to me) said his cousin who is a huge Bama fan and lives in Tuscaloosa. He saying that its catching fire there right now that Mrs. Terry is tired of the grind of the SEC. And that some big wigs are saying that its at least being discussd by the Sabans about other coaching opprptunities or just retiring. I do know that there was an AL.com article published this morning about USC contacting Saban before hiring Sarkisian so anyone got any info???

If Saban and Ms Terry are tired of the expectations and pressure of the Alabama fanbase I don't know why they would jump to Texas.

If it's about money Texas will be able to take him and Alabama won't be able to do anything but watch. I doubt seriously it will be about money.

Doubt very seriously he is jetting and taking a chopper all over the place to recruit for Texas while telling the kids and the media that he is trying to get the best recruits to the University of Alabama.

I don't know I guess I just meant until they hire somebody else, or some other way it becomes 100% clear he is not going there.

For people who are worried about it, it isn't going to matter what is said, they are going to worry about it. Then, next year, it will be another job the opens that they will worry about. The only thing I can tell you is folks in Tuscaloosa who are close to the program are not the least bit concerned about it.

Looking at it Objectively, I think Texas and USC are the only college jobs for which a coach would ever leave Bama. You have everything there you would at Bama except less competition in the fertile recruiting regions, and you wouldn't have to navigate the SEC. That's what I think worries some people, especially since nobody can deny Texas will come hard at Saban if Mack goes. Doubt it happens, but we'll see.

How does Saban officially turn it down? Does it require a notary public or something?

To be fair, Saban sort of made his bed here but the idea that he's going to just up and leave because the SEC is too tough is laughable. And if he does tire of unreasonable expectations I don't see him taking another job. Those expectations will follow him anywhere.

Texas folks like to think of themselves as being bigger and better and they show it by being flashy. If they could hire him, they would and they would pay him $15-20 million a year if they needed to, and they would get beat by whichever SEC team they played in the playoffs. Saban knows this and so does Malzahn, although I give our boosters 5-7 years before Gus tires of them.

A couple of thoughts here:

1) Bill Curry to Kentucky
2) Dennis Franchione to A&M.

The notion that Texas, as a state, somehow equates to less competition on the recruiting trail befuddles me. How many schools dip into the state of Texas for recruits? This is a situation where you need to stop and check the facts. Out of the top 20 kids in TX (2013) more left the state than signed with the Longhorns. Bama signed two out of those 20, TX signed three...which happens to be the same number as Ohio State.

One thing you have spot on here—well, close to spot on—is TX coming hard after Saban. Their most influential boosters are already pushing.

Terry, I still think Texas is the easiest job of the top 10 jobs to recruit. Mack Brown's staff is not known for being great recruiters but they are almost always in the Top 5 classes. Despite having 4 other major conference teams in the state the Longhorns still get who they want for the most part.

Georgia, Florida, and Alabama don't normally sign ten of the top 20 kids in their states - although to be fair the 20th kid out of Alabama is usually off of the major programs radars. If you look at the top 50 from all of the SEC states no one program signs more than 12-15 of them.

But as fun as this discussion is it's likely moot.

Easy, bro...he stands at the podium during a press conference and says, "I guess I'm just going to have to say it...I'm not going to be the coach at Texas." Wait, wut?
:panic:

I just hope it happens this year while Lane Kiffin is still available...

Seems like a Barner has found out how to use the interwebs.

I spoke to an Austin resident yesterday an he said that the name that has come up that's getting attention is James Franklin. He also said that Saban would hate Texas because he would not have the control over the program like he does at Alabama.
