šŸ€ I still don't get the deal with Pearl refusing to talk to the Auburn administration. How does an employee get away with such?

Here is a quote from their new puppet president.

"Bruce and his staff are doing a great job on the court, clearly Bruce knows that my expectation is sooner or later he’s going to have to come in and talk to me and others on campus about what’s going on in the program and we’ll move towards a solution on that, but that is my expectation,ā€ Leath said.

ā€˜Sooner or later’ Bruce Pearl needs to meet with Steven Leath

He gets away with it by winning 14 in a row, play in the tournament and then go see them, knowing that Auburn doesn't care about being a cheater. Lord that is what they do after all.
They just want to get their story straight.. don't be fooled
A little deeper than that in my eyes.

If Leath talks to Pearl he'll be expected to report those conversations to the NCAA who Leath said he's expecting to be on campus soon. Now, let's assume Leath just doesn't report these conversations to the NCAA. Then we've got the FBI who'll be asking Pearl "with whom did you speak?"

I'm betting top dollar that Pearl's attorney has told him not to talk to anyone. Any admission of guilt and/or knowledge puts him, and Auburn, under the hammer of the NCAA. I talked to a few attorney's about this when the FBI story broke and to a man they said, "better not to talk and get fired than to talk and find yourself in jail."

From this side it looks to me like Auburn and Pearl are more than happy for Person to take the fall for Auburn.

On a slightly different note, but has bearing on this question, is why didn't Auburn appeal Purifoy? They did for Wiley and he was ruled ineligible. Common sense says if they didn't make an appeal for Purifoy they found he was as guilty as suspected.

TenBears tells me if a good basketball program is looking to hire a coach this March then The Pearl will take the gig. He is having a really good year and will use his capital to get a job at a real BB school. AU used Bruce and Bruce has used AD to get the stink off him all the while making near 3 million per season. To be continued.

This kind of NCAA investigation, and federal charges, will follow him and be a factor in any future contract.

hit "expectation"?

he's the freaking president of the whole university, not the university except for the basketball team.

he needs to nut up or shut up! you need to tell him he'll have his ass in his office for a conversation or he's suspended until he does. he needs to grow a pair, be a freakin' man about it, and do his damn job.

can't stand these pansy-ass "bosses" that won't do anything to upset the flow. sometimes, shit needs to get done in a more forceful way and people need to know where they stand in the hierarchy.

Wonder how much Person is getting in "severance" to fall on his sword?
