Ya'll, we are undergoing a massive transition from one software system to another at the financial services outfit I work for. The changeover is causing lots of hand wringing and gnashing of teeth. We've been to our corporate office for some extensive training for a week, and we've been through additional training behind our desks. Next week, we will have some members of the training staff of the software company in our respective offices. It's a big deal, and upper management is pressing the issue.
This morning, after weeks and weeks of HUGE emails, with tons of attachments and instructions and general information overload, we get this email from our head of operations:
"All, please take special note of J*** email, I know this is the holidays but things that do not get loaded properly now will be difficult to fix later. I expect all to take extra time and attention to comply with J*** request."
So, clearly they mean business about this training, right? We'll not 5 minutes later we get the following email :
"Participation is not optional for these trainings. We are spending a lot of money on traveling expense for these (training) employees. Please have your needed people be present. We are contemplating a test to be given to everyone prior to you being allowed to get on the system. I am serious about the test."
I had to laugh at the test comment. It reminded me of a Saturday Night Live moment....
