šŸˆ Hurricane Matthew: LSU/UF decision (UPDATED to be played 11/19 @ LSU)

WTF Vitter....Louisiana has the poors so bad they laid off all proofreaders???

Louisiana State vs. UF University (LSU)....really!!

So, Louisiana State is playing The University of Florida University also known as Louisiana State University?????

What's interesting, if the worst happens and they don't make it up, it doesn't destroy their chance to be division champs. Bylaws were written in the SEC back when teams played a different number of conference games. So it's the best winning percentage that goes to Atlanta and not just number of wins.

Quote:
Conference Championship. [SEC Bylaw 30.22.1.3]
The Conference champion will be determined by a game between the two division champions. The team in each division with the highest percentage of wins during all regular-season Conference competition will be declared division champion. If two or more teams are tied with the highest percentage of wins, they will be declared division co-champions. Division standings will be calculated on a percentage basis, using only those Conference games which are a part of the regular rotating schedule.

I wondered if the cancelled game would count towards the percentage like a tie, but it does not.

Quote:
Cancel- To cancel a contest is to nullify it either before or after it begins and to make no provision for rescheduling it or for including its score or other performance statistics in Conference records.

2016 SEC Commissioners Regulations

If they can't reschedule, this opens up all types of divisional champs discussions...

And if they move the game to 11/19 when they both play OOC games, that would mean LSU has 3 away games in a row. Fun times.

AD, Foley said that the makeup date rest with Sankey and the home office. He would agree to whatever date they decide on. We shall see.

The winning percentage will likely help Florida more than LSU. Wouldn't it be funny if it helps Florida over Tennessee? Let's say UT and Florida end with the same number of wins in conference play. Normally UT would get the bid for head-to-head play. But Florida would get the bid since their percentage would be higher. How loud would UT scream?

Butch Jones is apparently feeling that. He said LSU/Florida have to play. If not, the vols could lose to TAMU and Bama and Florida could win out with Del Rio back. Gator's in. But LSU could beat Bama and our winning percentage would still be better, with one loss a piece and we would go to Atlanta. LSU would have a total melt.

Florida and Georgia are both off October 22, LSU is off October 29th, Florida and Georgia play each other Oct. 29th.... move Florida vs Georgia game to Oct 22nd and schedule Florida/ LSU for the 29th.... of course that will put LSU without the off week before us and move it and Florida's off week to this weekend and Georgia's off week will be the 29th....... easy peasy

Since LSU has already lost to Auburn, I'm not worried about them. Even though it's not within the conference, I believe it impacts their ability to go to the SECCG if it comes down to a tie (higher ranked team goes).

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina’s game against Georgia still will be played in Williams-Brice Stadium, but it won’t be played Saturday night.

The Gamecocks and Bulldogs will play on Sunday, coach Will Muschamp said on his Thursday radio show. The game time has not been set yet with hopes it will be determined later Thursday night.

ā€œWe are working with the University of Georgia and the Southeastern Conference, the SEC Network for a kick time,ā€ Muschamp said. ā€œIt will be definitely Sunday, sometime in the afternoon. They are not sure exactly what the kick time will be.ā€

Muschamp praised the USC administration for its work in the process.

ā€œI want compliment president (Harris) Pastides, coach (Ray) Tanner and his entire staff,ā€ Muschamp said. ā€œThey have been together all week figuring out, No. 1 campus wise what do we need to do in helping out the College of Charleston and some of the people on the coast coming to Columbia trying to help them out.

ā€œThey have worked extremely hard on this situation to make it a workable situation for all the parties involved.ā€

The game originally was scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday night, but was moved because of Hurricane Matthew. The Gamecocks were determined to keep the game in Columbia, stating Wednesday night that ā€œthe USC vs. UGA game will be played in Columbia.ā€

The Gamecocks have won three straight meetings with Georgia at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Shit, you know how many fans reserve rooms and houses almost a year in advance in Jacksonville for that game. Georgia even works Fall Break around that game, they ain't moving that bad boy.

That makes too much sense and the logical thing to do. Which is exactly why they won't do it.

I think it's like 334 says, lotta money tied to the Florida/ Georgia game for that weekend.... of course with Matthew bearing down, there may not be much of a stadium to play in. They could bump the Ole Miss/LSU game back to the 29th (Ole Miss bye week) , move the Ole Miss bye week up to the 22nd and let Florida/LSU play that weekend.

I agree too, I think that J'ville make more on that weekend that any NFL game or even the Gator Bowl.
