🏈 How do you beat Alabama? Experts scratching their heads

These are the articles that you hope our players can somehow avoid reading...
I second this.

On an analytical note, i believe it has been shown that in all of Bama's losses from 2008 forward, the winning team was able to run the football. The exceptions are probably Utah and AU even though AU was enough of a threat in the run game to at least keep the D somewhat honest.

Here are the rushing and passing yards by our opponents in the losses since 2008

vs Florida 2008 SECCG
Passing 216
Rushing 142

Utah
Passing 336
Rushing 24

SoCar 2010
Passing 201
Rushing 110

LSU 2010
Passing 223
Rushing 102

Auburn 2010
Passing 216
Rushing 108

LSU 2009 (Nov 5)
Passing 91
Rushing 148

Common theme? Except for Utah, all rushed for over 100 yards. And I think these are the only games since 2008 that Alabama has allowed over 100 yards in a game. "Think" being the keyword in that statement.

But also, all of them have over 200 yards passing in those losses, except LSU 2011.

Ga Southern ran up a bunch of rushing yards in '11 and scored 14 on the defense but didnt win.

UT got over 100 in 2010 i believe but 75ish of it came on one run.

LSU's got over 200 in 08 but didnt win because their QB kept throwing it to Rashaad Johnson.

Those are the only 3 i can think of

I dont think a team has to rush for 150-200 to beat Bama, they just have to rush enough so that they arent one dimensional. Once your team is in 3rd and long with no run threat you are right where Saban/Smart want you. Oh and the QB CAN NOT MAKE MISTAKES.

The reason LSU is such a challenge for Bama every year is because they are physical up front and can run the football between the tackles due to having similar athletes to Bama at every position.

How do you beat Bama? To address that, start with no mistakes in the kicking game. No bad snaps, blocked kicks, fumbled KO or punt, no shanks, no long returns. On offense, whatever else you do, you can't turn the ball over and give us a short field. On defense, unless the team is awfully good up front, Bama's Ol is going to grind on them, make first downs and score on long drives. So you will need to gamble some, especially on 1st and 2nd down, in order to give us a 3rd and long situation. It would take a very good team playing near perfect football and getting a break or two.
