🏈 How did Oregon fans take loss? 'What I saw tonight was all the SEC blowhards being proven right'

"Save the first possession, and the final irrelevant run-out-the-clock one, every time the Cardinal touched the ball, the Oregon defense (such as it was) allowed them to score. A truly pathetic performance."

Here is a sampling of comments from AL.com's colleague site, OregonLive.com.

"I'm a die hard Duck fan...but what I saw tonight was all the SEC blowhards being proven right...which really DOES make me feel ill...but I've got to wonder if U of O just makes things too shiny and swell for these kids...."

"I would watch SEC games but I would rather watch paint dry. That LSU natty game was a thriller." -

"Don't seem to be many Duck fans here tonight. Just a bunch of jacka...s putting down a good team. Contrary to these people's beliefs, Oregon gave this game away. Stanford played very well, but Oregon made every mistake in the book....very poor tackling, false starts, poor passing when men were open, fumbles, same old story with penalties...all the things when playing a top tier team will get you a loss. Mariota has got to learn to dump off the ball before he gets tackled for a loss. Scott Frost has a lot more work with him. Stanford has a lot of intelligent players. Oregon could do a lot better. If Oregon ever wants a nat. championship, they will have to get a stronger defense and players that know fundamentals. They better take Utah seriously. Move on to the next game Ducks." -

"Apparently ball control football isn't dead..." -

"I said it a month ago, Stanford (a traditional style team) would win this one. Ducks would lose to Bama too! Chip Kelly's flag football scheme is just a gimmick in big time matchups like this game. Hate me all you want, but this is 2 wins in a row. And it wasn't a luck thing. O played a legit team and got rolled. Enjoy the humble pie. I'm so happy the Ducks are toast. - SalmonKev

"Brutal loss ... same thing every year in regards to being soft when playing a physical team." - Phil can't buy a championship

"France and Italy could teach Oregon something about keeping up a fight." - BLW

"Amazing.....the Ducks looked totally unprepared for the game.....the "comeback" was exciting, but irrelevant.....how could they come into this game so flat and unprepared? Stanford wanted it more and UO got out-coached and out played." - wcoasto

"The PAC12 is sending out "HELP WANTED" notices for officiating....will even take SEC retirees..." - surfer787

"When's the last time bama played on the west coast? Never they don't fly. all their games in the S.E. corner of the country. Too scared to go anywhere. Mulligans. Mulligans. Mulligans." - AccU_Rat

"On the bright side, think of all those kids if Africa that will get those "We Want Bama" T-shirts." - woofers02

"Stanford played incredibly well. That last quarter was great fun to watch, in spite of the loss. Maldonado came through with some effective onside kicks. I loved the Ducks last week, and I still do. However, the BCS standings turn out, I'm looking forward to Utah." - CordonBlue

"The Ducks should fire their STRENGTH and conditioning coach tomorrow. His little plyometrics training doesn't cut it." - jimmd

"Only SEC teams get a mulligan in the current system." - Chris Zuver

"Amazing when we start throwing the ball, we march down the field. too little, too late." - mojo 77

At least they beat Tennessee.

Not sure why someone is questioning Alabama's willingness to travel to the West Coast. If Alabama keeps pulling kids from that side of the country, they might get their wish... But then again, maybe visiting Pasadena ever so often isn't such a bad thing

Lol people are still butthurt about 2011 despite Bama proving they deserved the "mulligan"??

Last night though. It was just painful. They gave up too fast. The team only showed up for about 7 minutes. Seriously, crying on the sideline down 26 with a quarter to go? Like, I understand its extremely emotional. But I've never seen a team just give up like that for most of a game. Especially a championship hopeful team.

A buddy of mine is a Ducks fan and posted on Facebook something along the lines of "where is my team? Clearly not in Palo Alto". He was just utterly disappointed not just cuz they lost but how miserably they played .. Double whammy.

best quote in there. the west coast puts too many of their duckies on offense. funj to watch and sells tickets but doesn't win the big games as often. Stanford appears to understand the importance of defense.

I couldn't have resisted telling him/her "that is your team."

Choking with red zone offense last night...same thing they did against Auburn in 2010.

Has issues facing a team who maintains gap control and actually tackles...same thing last year with Stanford.

There is no shock value found in that game last night. It's what has been said for the last several years when it comes to playing Oregon.

Amen. Dude is good but he ain't no Jameis, AJ, Manziel, etc. Hopefully now AJ can enter the top 3 discussion .. maybe with a superhuman game tomorrow

That's what I am hoping for as well. I know AJ won't win the Heisman, but I would like to see him get invited to New York.

Pretty sure Bama played on the west coast in Jan 2010 where they throttled one of those other soft "spread" teams.

It may be that no one WANTS Bama to come out there and play them.

Remember, we are too busy with all of our cupcake games! Like #11 TAMU, #10 LSU, #21 Ole Miss, #9 Auburn, the SEC Championship game ..

Oregon is as soft as we thought they were. Pitiful tackling, poor fundamentals, and folds like a cheap suit when they get slugged in the mouth. Maybe if they spent more time in the weight room and on the practice field, instead of putting emphasis on designing a costume every week, they could compete with a real football team. I'm just disappointed that our team will not get to dismantle them and have all of them crying on the sidelines, IF we win out. Lotta meat left on this bone!
