In Saban's tenure at Alabama there's been one person who's been linked to several really good stories surrounding UA football. He's also Fresno State alumni.

Can you name him?

Did you hear McElroy's defense of McElwain? It was kinda bizarre.

No, I don't hear the ESPN chatter. I haven't seen an article on it. But I would guess Greg probably thinks the world of him as a Bama OC. Unfortunately, McElwain has a much bigger crowd that aren't overly impressed with his offensive skills right now.

McElwain was a decent OC for us, it is his OC that was turrible, the Loch Nuss Munster.
What's interesting there is if you look at the offensive numbers (IE: total offense) under Nuss his two years as OC at Bama were better than the stretch we had under Mac. '15 under Kiff had more total yards on the season, but that '12 season under Nuss the Tide was averaging over 450 yards per game.

He said it on his Sirius show... he pretty much said that McElwain has done a "fantastic job" at Florida "with one hand tied behind his back" because of the QB situation but refused to acknowledge that its McElwain that recruits their crappy QBs and is responsible for their development or lack-thereof. And McElroy said his opinion there has nothing to do with his personal relationship with him (which is where I really took issue with it because McElroy is pretty unbiased and spot on with his analysis 90% of the time. He clearly is allowing his personal relationship blind him here).

Nuss also had arguably the best passer in Alabama history, two of the best running backs and one of the best receivers...
