šŸˆ Has Georgia Replaced Alabama as the Gold Standard?

If we can’t turn it around to dominate like we were then I’d haft to say , yes.

While we are winning , it seems as though Georgia has become the team no one wants to play. Now it seems as though we’re in a funk to where we could score 49 which is more than enough to win a game but give up 52. While Georgia gave up just 13 points I think. Even Arkansas’s defense held the same team to 13 .

It pains me to say as well as watch.

Going back to back isn't easy, so he will be on his way if they do it. Of course you won't have an exact answer for another ten years. The attitude and hunger at Georgia is what Alabama used to be. Alabama had to change strategies because you can only maintain that hunger to be the best in the West, best in the SEC, and best in college for so long. Alabama has transitioned to NFL money and readiness instead of just being NCAA good. That's the hardest transition at this point for Saban, keeping that hunger and not looking forward. If NIL is worth anything to Saban it's that he can somewhat temper that money desire and looking forward to getting them paid now and focusing on development. Atleast you hope he can.

Kirby still has to deal with coaching departures and seeing if he can find another quarterback catch fire like Stetson. Dabo had a rough year after losing some coaches and missing on his quarterback. ACC Champs, but in a real conference they lose five games this year with how close they played everyone. The jury is still out of course, but Kirby is building Georgia to be just like Alabama to the outside eye, yes.

As BamaFan334 said Georigia is building their program to be like Bama so by definitin Bama is the standard.

Look at the broader history not just a few years and it is hands down Bama and not even close. In the current era, Bama better start playing D or they will be temporarliy replaced.

I can only think....back to the NC game....how bama owned uga....through the years..
A loss to bama in that game would have really been hard on KS...
But ...now...kirby is younger...has the will to evaluate assistant coaches...and keep moving forward.... does Nick?....

So much talent at bama.... even games they are winning...there is major struggles.with mediocre teams... poor defense play....offense scoring enough...but.........offense isn't consistent....

So....is uga the new standard....was Clemson the new standard....is ohio state or USCw......the new standard.... for now ...they are still chasing bama...but its up to nick to put and keep bama there...like when he saw the need to change offenses...and brought in Lane... something has to change.....SECw to strong to have the problems bama has had the last few years......change is needed

I agree with everything that has been said. The dawgs are now where Bama was in 2009-2011. So, they’re an elite team that’s hungerly following in Bama’s footsteps. But to become the standard, they will need to win more than a couple of NC’s while Bama fades into mediocrity. As long as Saban’s at Bama I doubt that will happen. Say it does though … then Georgia will become the new gold standard in a new era. However, they will need to win something like four NC’s in seven years or six in twelve years to replace Bama as the historical Gold Standard.

To be the "new standard", doesn't the new standard need to replace the old one?

For all the recently found cockiness of the UGA fan base that I had no idea existed... meet these spoiled ass BAMA fans that didn't get their wittle way in '22.

We are literally one year removed from being 1-1 against the supposed new standard and two years from winning our last NC. Go ahead and y'all crown those leg humpers as the new standard. I am not convinced they will survive this playoff cycle yet. SMH.

i don't get it.... I watch most of the uGA games this year because I live in Georgia and it's of interest. UGA struggle won a lot of the games they played. They struggled in the first half and the other teams just were not deep enough to take advantage of it. They did win when they needed, but I dare to say anyone was afraid to play them nor that the dominated the season. Perception is what the media pushes... and often not reality.

It would not surprise me in the least if Ohio State runs them out of the stadium in the 1st round...

As a fellow someone who also lives in Georgia - I would actually find this quite funny if it were to happen.

I don't root for a conference. My allegiance is to one team. The "SEC, SEC, SEC" chants are really coming from fans of other teams trying to ride Bama's coattails for the most part.

Isn’t the way you describe Georgia’s wins this season a lot like the way Bama used to win a number of their games from 2008-2013? As I recall, Bama’s games were often close at halftime then the Tide would eventually wear teams down on both sides of the ball in the second half and win by comfortable margins. Now, I’m not saying the pups of the past few seasons are as good as Bama was during their 3 NC’s in 4 seasons … or anywhere close to it. But if they win the NC this year they will at least have earned a spot in the conversation. As Bama fans we know how hard it is to win back to back NC’s. My hope is they don’t because of their obnoxious fans who’ve suddenly forgot about the previous 40 years. If they do win it though I’ll give them their due. The question then becomes can they sustain greatness like Bama did? Ohio State couldn’t, Clemson couldn’t and neither could LSU. Bama did and if they win the NC next season as I think they will, everything will be right in the college football world Saban has established.

I’m not sure I was comparing past Bama team to the current media idea that UGA dominates teams. However, having brought it up… the game was much different 10-15 years ago. A lot less scoring by todays standards. I’d have to go back to those years and look at the stats to see if I would say those teams dominated the others… however in todays game and by todays standard, UGA 2022 team did not dominate the year. Just my opinion.

When you’re putting your backups in just after halftime you’re dominating the other team… by todays standard. Much like the 2019 or 2020 Bama team… I can’t remember the year exactly that we pretty much closed the game by halftime.
