So I’m at a dinner (meeting) 2 nights ago before I headed home for a week to take a break.
Two of us are American, 3 from Canada, 1 from Jamaica and 2 from the UK.
After handling all the business “stuff” in casual conversation, I said (to the 3 Canadians) what to y’all think about becoming our 51st state. They both (in unison) said “I WISH!!!!!!!”
Their take home pay when working is less than 30% of the gross pay. They both started small businesses here and pay themselves minimum wage as far as Canada is concerned.
The 2 from the UK chimed in and said they’re in the process of applying for US citizenship. They do not want to go back to the UK at all.
The Jamaican said he’s not going back to Jamaica. He’s got his Canadian citizenship in the “bag”, but said he’ll never work in Canada again.
We’re all in the tech/fiber industry and put together a decent little team. We’ve just brought in some “local” ( Abilene Texas ) help to assist with our testing and prep type work.
Long story short: So that’s about 20 or so Canadians I have met in the last year or so. Everyone one of them say the same thing about Canada vs US
