I wonder if the broken rule was bitching about the play calling.

Kyle Davis is no longer on the Auburn football team.

"Kyle Davis has been dismissed form our team for breaking team rules," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said Tuesday. "We wish him nothing but the best moving forward."

Davis did not practice last week and did not travel for the game at LSU due to undisclosed reasons.

The sophomore had seven catches for 210 yards in five games this season. He was also suspended for the season opener and missed all of spring practice, both due to undisclosed reasons.

Davis is the third player to leave the program since the start of the season and second to be dismissed, joining Sean White (dismissed)and Byron Cowart (transfer).

His off-field issues that led to multiple suspensions, erratic play on the field and playing the bigger slot receiver position were analogous to former receiver D'haquille Williams, who was dismissed in 2015. Malzahn did not agree with the comparison.

"I'm not going to compare," Malzahn said. "Every situation is different and I'm not going to agree with that comparison of the former wide receiver. Anytime as a head coach a player has to be dismissed, that hurts. But every situation is different. We've got a lot of great kids. Anytime that happens, it's just another opportunity for someone else. So that's the way I look at it."
