šŸ“” Greg Byrne's Tweet about student without masks

Not a good look here for Byrne, and I like and support the guy. As much as he enjoys using social media, there are times when it's just not the smart thing to do, this is a perfect case. Then again, maybe the idea of using your own University as chum for the national media sharks seemed like the smart play to him. Regardless, he's turned a mole hill into a burning mountain with a tweet that he never should have hit send on.

As to his original question... Do I want fall sports? Yes, very much so. Do I need fall sports? Nope, not at all.

I agree with everything you say, even the supporting him part, but this was a stain for his reputation.

Leadership doesn't always come in the form of pleasing your audience.

I don't have any issue with him trying to mitigate the spread of a virus. The virus isn't republican or democrat... And Money is not blue or red.... If he believes wearing a mask will legitimately give the athletes a better chance to play and the athletic department a better chance to make some GREEN, than not speaking up would be a lack of leadership.

Masks haven't stopped the spread yet. Are folks being conditioned to think only people not wearing masks are getting it and spreading it? It's freaking airborne. Most humans are disgusting and nasty, just go look at a bathroom. You expect me to believe if those people are wearing masks the spread stops and we have football?

Not a good look on his part. To me, maybe he should've walked over there and said "hey, I would like to welcome you all here to our beautiful campus! Would you guys mind doing me a favor? We have a mandated policy of wearing a mask when inside of 6 feet and we have a Mayor that doesn't mind enforcing it with a fine. Please slip on a mask if you are going to be within 6 feet. Our football players thank you and your checking account will thank you later! Roll Tide!!"

Or how about you just stay at home if you're that worried? It's easy to push on others to do something to not hinder your desires, but how does it feel for someone to push back on yours?
It will take more than one person staying home. Seems like the evidence I look at does show masks helps but does not eliminate the issue. Just look at the state numbers since MeMaw Ivey issued the order to wear masks.

I am not one to continuously harp on people about masks and I do not because at the end of they day it has to be a choice and all I can control is myself. I would think eventually it would become evident from the data.

So what's to say a majority of the people haven't already caught the virus at this point and moved on from it? It is after all down numbers wise as a whole. If it wasn't, then the news would be blowing up on it like the last six months. To me, it's impossible to get a read because we have been fed bullshit numbers on both sides, we have doctors contradicting other doctors, and we have normal every day people that know zero about viruses or the medical side of sickness acting as if they know best for everyone. My biggest question is, why do we not see entire families under one roof getting this virus? Tests are not reliable. Just a lot of questions to be answered before someone like Byrne guilt's me into wearing a mask for football.

I hope all the morons on here angry at Byrne don't blame anyone but themselves when football is canceled so they could keep their "personal freedoms".

Easy man. I believe that most on here wear the masks when necessary. We don't like it, but we do it to protect those we love. My wife is a diabetic, so we wear them to protect her. My parents aren't "spring chickens" anymore, so I do it to protect them as well. I think most on here agree that AD Byrne turning to social media to put those in the picture on full blast, wasn't a good luck for someone in his position. A LOT of those people pictured were parents there with their daughters for "Bid Day!" A LOT of the media took to the airwaves blasting the students and even the businesses for opening up to them. Just not a good look.

This is a very vague statement. Because clearly, not everyone is wearing a mask.

Are folks being conditioned to think only people not wearing masks are getting it and spreading it? It's freaking airborne.

Personally I don't think folks are being conditioned to think that ONLY people not wearing masks are getting and spreading it. I think the influence is happening in regards to the only 2 things we all can actually control in this situation... That wearing a mask and keeping distance can help limit/mitigate the spread. To what degree can be disputed, but I don't think I'm taking a political stance by saying those 2 things are fairly universally agreed upon in regards to ways to limit the spread.

Most humans are disgusting and nasty, just go look at a bathroom. You expect me to believe if those people are wearing masks the spread stops and we have football?

Do you believe in washing your hands in said bathroom? If so, why? Personally I don't expect you to believe that those people wearing masks stops the spread and we have football... I've said all along I don't believe that Fall football is likely anyway. But I do believe that the more folks that wear masks and keep distance, the less of a spread we'd see.

Ultimately IMO, you think Byrne is making a political statement here. I don't see that. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
