🏈 Grantland: Great read on Mack Brown

I read this and I get a feeling for who Mack is. The light touch he took and his "niceness" resulted in situations where he kept his DC too long, and failed to rein in his buddy who was harassing the female office.

Except in the Darrell Royal days, Texas has not been a regular NC contender. Brown perhaps kindled the.inflated expecations that led to his downfall by the championship he did win.

If you have the CEO approach as.a head coach you had better have a.really good staff. Failings there ultimately brought him down.

Mack played favorites for sure. For years, he stuck with OC Greg Davis despite tons of criticism of the offense. Mack would always be quick, however, to fir DCs, and multitudes of position coaches. In the end though, most Texas fans saw Mack for what he is. A salesman and that is why he was so good at recruiting.

He's another Tuberville.
