Gator fans apparently don't remember similar scenarios from previous Bama-Florida games:

1. 1992: Florida was favored against a Bama team that barely won it's games. Bama beat Florida then crushed Miami to win the NC.
2. 1999: Bama went to Gainesville and knocked-off a heavily favored Gator team, THEN played them again in the SEC Championship game, beating the Gators 34-7. Florida's flashy offense scored their only touchdown 1:06 into the first quarter, then was MANHANDLED by Bama the rest of the way.
3. 2005: Florida went to Tuscaloosa with yet another "flashy" offense and was blown-out by Alabama 31-3.

Remember???

Well, the '06 game was really not a 'blow out.' If I remember correctly, Alabama actually had a lead at the beginning of the fourth-quarter (or was behind by less than a touchdown) and played a normal Shula-style last period - read 'folded tent and quit.' The decisive TD for Florida was an interception returned for a score.

And remember, that Alabama team finished the season with a losing record while the Florida team was 12-1 and national champions.

All that said. No of any of that matters one iota in the outcome next Saturday.

Some on the staff here had this conversation yesterday.

A few points brought out were that UF was 8-3 going in to the SECCG in '92. So, going against an undefeated Alabama team, that was averaging more points per game than UF, makes the notion they were favored questionable. To add to that, UF was coming off a blow-out loss to FSU coming into Birmingham as well.

'05, UF was favored by 3 coming into T-town. And, I can't agree with the thought they were a "flashy offense" that season. Two weeks before our game, they managed to get by UT (5-6 that year) 16-7. That's the same UT that had beaten UAB 17-10.

'06, UF favored by 15 at home.
